NATIONAL SPORTS DAY CELEBRATION

 

National Sports Day Celebration

The Sports Club of MCCTE, Mahe celebrated National Sports Day in online mode on 29 August 2024 at 8:00 p.m.

The programme aimed to highlight the importance of sports, physical fitness, and an active lifestyle among students. As the event was conducted online, it provided an opportunity for participants to join from their homes and engage in activities promoting health and well-being.

The session began with a brief introduction on the significance of National Sports Day, observed to honour the legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand. Students were encouraged to participate in simple fitness activities, share their sports experiences, and discuss the role of sports in enhancing discipline, teamwork, and mental strength.

Interactive discussions and motivational messages formed an important part of the programme, inspiring students to incorporate regular physical exercise into their daily routine. The online format ensured smooth participation and fostered a sense of unity and enthusiasm despite the virtual setting.

The English Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an English Quiz Competition on 28 November 2024 at 11:30 AM with the aim of enhancing students’ language proficiency, general awareness of English literature, and critical thinking skills. The programme encouraged healthy competition and provided an engaging platform for students to test their knowledge of English.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the English Club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of such activities in strengthening vocabulary, grammar, and overall linguistic competence. Participants were grouped into teams and briefed about the rules and structure of the quiz.

The quiz consisted of multiple rounds, including:

  • Vocabulary Round

  • Grammar & Usage Round

  • Literature Round (authors, works, genres)

  • Audio/Visual Round

  • Rapid Fire Round

Each round tested different aspects of language learning and literary understanding. Students participated enthusiastically, displaying strong preparation and competitive spirit. The quiz master ensured smooth conduct of the event, while the audience actively engaged by cheering for their favourite teams.

After an exciting final round, the top-performing team was declared the winner. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to both winners and participants for their commendable effort and involvement.

The programme concluded with remarks by faculty members, who appreciated the English Club for organising an informative and intellectually enriching event. Students shared that the quiz helped improve their language skills, broaden their literary knowledge, and boost their confidence.

Overall, the English Quiz Competition was a successful, stimulating, and educational event that effectively promoted linguistic excellence among the students.

The Music Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe observed Thyagaraja Swami Seminar Day on 28th November 2024 at 11:00 AM with the objective of honouring the legacy of the great Carnatic composer Saint Thyagaraja and deepening students’ understanding of his contributions to Indian classical music. The programme aimed to inspire learners to appreciate the spiritual, musical, and cultural richness embedded in his compositions.

The seminar began with an introduction to the life and musical journey of Saint Thyagaraja, highlighting his devotion, lyrical mastery, and the profound emotional depth reflected in his kritis. Students were introduced to the significance of the Pancharatna Kritis, his philosophical insights, and the enduring influence of his compositions on Carnatic music.

Resource persons and faculty members presented talks on Thyagaraja’s musical style, his contribution to the Trinity of Carnatic music, and the relevance of his works in contemporary musical education. Audio and video examples of his compositions were shared, allowing participants to appreciate the intricacies of melody, rhythm, and bhakti that characterize his works.

Students also participated by giving short presentations and musical demonstrations based on Thyagaraja’s kritis. These performances reflected their understanding of classical techniques, expressive interpretation, and cultural appreciation. The seminar created a spiritually uplifting and intellectually enriching environment, encouraging students to explore the depth of classical music traditions.

The programme concluded with words of appreciation from the coordinators, who emphasized the importance of preserving and studying the works of legendary composers. The Thyagaraja Swami Seminar Day was a successful and meaningful initiative, reflecting the Music Club’s commitment to promoting musical awareness, cultural heritage, and artistic growth among students.

CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATION

 


Likha 2024-25 Mahe Co-operative College Of Teachers Education's Union hosted a Children's Day celebration for the school students of Mahe region on 26th Nov. 2024. To enrich student's skills, various competitions on arts and sports were organised at the college campus. A spectacular platform was arranged by the Union forming and dividing committees to better use.

The students and teachers from different schools started arriving and they were given chest numbers according to their participation items. We began the arts, the water colouring, letter writing and patriotic song at 1.45 PM along with it we conducted the sports at the college ground that is skipping, lemon spoon, shuttle run, musical chair and tug of war systematically that's designed by the union and the teachers. The parents and the teachers accompanied then and enjoyed every event that was going on. We felt the students were more energetic and enthusiastic than ever and everyone present enjoyed it. We also provided refreshments and aids for the one in need.

We could see the excitement in the eyes of students and the one accompanied. Around 4.00 PM, after the fierce tug of war ended the awarding ceremony began. The chief guests Sri Sajith Narayanan sir (The President Of MCCTI, Sri M Ashalatha Mam (Board Member of MCCTI) along with Dr.Sreelatha Mam (The Principal of MCCTE) awarded the winners and the participants, as the score board was already displayed. The overall champions Government Middle School Mahe was awarded the trophy and prize money of Rs 1000 And the runners up were awarded a trophy and the cash prize of 500 to Alley English Medium School And Excel Public school, every student who participated received a participant certificate and medals to their winning items.

The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the unethical and unlawful practice of dowry, promote gender equality, and encourage students to take a stand against social injustices.

The event began with a brief introduction explaining the significance of the Dowry Prohibition Act and the ongoing challenges related to dowry practices in society. Students were encouraged to express their views creatively through digital art, highlighting the negative impact of dowry on women, families, and society at large.

Participants designed powerful and meaningful posters using digital tools, incorporating strong messages, illustrations, and slogans that emphasized themes such as women’s rights, social justice, equality, and the need to eliminate dowry-related violence. The posters reflected creativity, clarity of thought, and a deep understanding of the social issue.

Faculty members viewed the submissions and appreciated the students for their thoughtful work. The Social Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe observed National Constitution Day on 26th November 2024 at 10:00 AM to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution and to promote awareness about constitutional values among students. The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction highlighting the historical significance of the day and the contributions of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution.

Students and faculty gathered to participate in the reading of the Preamble, reaffirming their commitment to justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. This collective reading served as a reminder of the guiding principles that shape India’s democratic framework. Following this, an informative talk was delivered by a faculty member, focusing on the fundamental rights, duties, and the importance of active and responsible citizenship in a democratic society.

To enhance student engagement, a short presentation was showcased on the making of the Constitution, key constitutional amendments, and the role of the Constitution in ensuring unity and integrity in the country. Students shared their reflections on constitutional values and their relevance in everyday life. The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction to the purpose of the contest. Students were encouraged to use photography as a tool to capture meaningful environmental themes and highlight issues related to nature conservation.

SESSION ON THE LANGUAGE STYLE OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized an informative session on The Language Style of William Shakespeare on 22 November 2024 at 3:00 PM in the college campus. The programme aimed to deepen students’ understanding of Shakespearean language, literary techniques, and his contributions to English literature.

The session began with an introduction by the club coordinators, who highlighted Shakespeare’s influence on the English language and world literature. Students were given an overview of key features of Shakespearean style, including the use of iambic pentameter, blank verse, figurative language, soliloquies, wordplay, and inventive vocabulary.

Participants actively engaged in the discussion as selected excerpts from Shakespeare’s plays and sonnets were presented and analysed. The resource person explained how Shakespeare’s language conveyed deep emotions, complex characters, and universal themes. Students also explored meanings of archaic words, metaphors, and rhetorical devices commonly used by the playwright.

The session created an intellectually stimulating environment, encouraging students to appreciate classical literature and develop a better understanding of linguistic evolution.

She conveyed the importance of the world celebrating philosophy day it is a global event that highlights the importance philosophy in worldwide It was very informative. The Tour Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Heritage Walk on 21st November 2024 at 8:30 AM with the objective of creating awareness about local history, culture, and heritage while providing students with experiential learning beyond the classroom. The programme aimed to help students understand the historical significance of Mahe and appreciate its rich cultural legacy.

The walk began early in the morning with an introductory briefing on the importance of heritage conservation and the historical background of Mahe. Students were guided through important heritage locations where they learned about colonial architecture, cultural landmarks, religious harmony, and the historical events associated with the region. Resource persons and faculty members explained the historical relevance of each site in a clear and engaging manner.

Students actively observed the architectural styles, inscriptions, and cultural elements present at the heritage sites. They showed keen interest by asking questions and engaging in discussions about the evolution of Mahe’s social, political, and cultural life. The walk helped students connect theoretical knowledge with real-life historical evidence.

INTERNATIONAL MEN’S DAY



 

International Men's Day, observed annually on November 19, recognizes men's contributions to society and addresses their unique challenges. The 2024 theme "Men's health champions, " emphasizes improving men's overall well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles. The day encourages celebrating positive male role models and fostering supportive communities for men to thrive.


Programs of the day

Intermational men's day were celebrated by physical science department  conducted a ramp walk competition for boys. Through which they convey their viewpoints by answering to certain interesting suggestions asked by judres. Nvi.0.Rahitha.Rajan, Dr. Anjali were the judges, Winner of the competition were Vyas Jagadeesh from English department, and I* runner up were Safeer from physical science department. All the participants were well performed with full of joy.

MENS DAY CELEBRATION


 The Women's Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education conducted a ramp walk competition to select Mr. MCCTE as part of Men's Day celebrations on November 19, 2024, at 3.30 pm. This was the second program organized by the Women's Cell after its inauguration. We had a great plan for this program. The members of the Women's Cell gathered together to create sashes for the participants using chart paper and also made a crown for the title of Mr. MCCTE

The judges for the program were Women's Cell Coordinator Nyji Narayan, Dr. Anjali Rajeevan, and Assistant Professor Rahidha Rajan. The program was a huge success from the start. Fourteen boys participated in the competition, and each participant was excited to take part and be crowned Mr. MCCTE 2024. The students and teachers encouraged the participants, who were allotted chess numbers and got ready for the event.

The anchoring was done by Women's Cell Secretary Neha Fathima, who invited the judges, teachers, non-teaching staff, and students to the program. The participants walked the ramp one by one, showcasing their unique styles. One of the participants, Vyus Jagadeesh, presented a variety of ideas through his costume, giving an executive look. Another highlight was Sangeerth's creative ramp walk, which included a hanging stunt. Abhinraj walked with bold attitude, while Anurag charmed the audience with his cute smile. Everyone made an impressive entry and walked the ramp amazingly, finally gathering together on stage.

The judges had certain criteria for selecting the winners, including their style of walking. attitude, and creativity in presenting their ideas. The participants were also asked some questions, based on these criteria, the judges wisely chose the winners. During the program, the Women's Cell provided fruit juice to the participants, which helped them relax and enjoy the event.

The Psychology Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an engaging psychological game titled “Pi Value Memorization” on 18th November 2024 at 11:00 AM. The activity was designed to enhance students’ cognitive abilities, particularly memory retention, concentration, and pattern recognition, through a fun and intellectually stimulating challenge.

The session began with a short introduction about the psychological processes involved in memory, such as encoding, storage, retrieval, and the role of mnemonics in improving recall. Students were then encouraged to memorize as many decimal places of the mathematical constant π (pi) as possible within the given time frame. Techniques such as chunking, visualization, association, and rhythm-based memorization were explained to help participants improve their performance.

Students enthusiastically participated, demonstrating focus, creativity, and competitive spirit. Many attempted innovative mnemonic strategies to memorize long sequences of numbers, while others relied on repetition and pattern grouping. The activity created an energetic and enjoyable environment, motivating students to challenge themselves and explore the capabilities of their memory.

After the memorization phase, participants took turns reciting the digits of pi they had memorized. The process highlighted individual differences in memory strategies, allowing students to learn from one another. Faculty members appreciated the effort and encouraged students to adopt scientifically proven memory techniques in their academic pursuits.

The activity reinforced the importance of cognitive training and self-awareness in learning. It also emphasized how psychology offers practical tools for enhancing mental performance. The programme concluded with appreciation for all participants and acknowledgment of those who demonstrated exceptional recall.

The Pi Value Memorization game was a successful and engaging initiative, reflecting the Psychology Club’s commitment to promoting cognitive development, scientific curiosity, and interactive learning among students.

It originated from the 1939 Nazi storming of Charles University in Prague, where student Jan Opletal was killed. Today, it promotes unity, solidarity, and empowerment among students worldwide, highlighting their role in society.

WOMEN CELL INAUGURATION AND SEMINAR ON GENDER LAW

 


On November 16, 2024, the Women's Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a seminar on the topic "Gender and Law. "The session was led by the renowned criminal lawyer Advocate P.T. Jaya, one of the leading advocates in Kerala. The seminar focused on the intersection of gender and the legal system, shedding light on societal challenges, personal experiences, and the empowerment of women in the legal



Advocate Jaya began the session by explaining the structure and functions of the Indian legal system. She described the hierarchy of courts, ranging from subordinate courts to the Supreme Court, and elaborated on their crucial role in ensuring justice and upholding constitutional principles.



The seminar provided a comprehensive discussion on several legal articles and laws designed to protect women's rights. Advocate Jaya highlighted key constitutional provisions that ensure equality and protection against discrimination. Drawing from her own life and career, Advocate Jaya shared her inspiring journey of entering the legal profession during an era when it was predominantly male-dominated. Despite facing resistance from her family and societal pressures, she persevered with unwavering dedication,


eventually carving a powerful niche for herself in the field. Through specific case examples, she illustrated the challenges women face in the legal field and the importance of resilience and determination in overcoming


Advocate Jaya spoke passionately about empowering women to overcome the gender biases entrenched in the legal profession. She encouraged. aspiring women lawyers to pursue their ambitions with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose, emphasizing that the legal field holds immense potential for women to effect meaningful change in society.
