World Patient Safety Day – 2024
The Social Science Department of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a thoughtful observance of World Patient Safety Day on 17 September 2024, during the morning assembly. The event featured an impactful speech by Reshmina Sherin K K, who spoke on this year’s theme – “Safe Patients Save Lives.” She emphasized the importance of patient safety as a global health priority, highlighting how small actions—like proper hygiene, correct medication, clear communication between doctors and patients, and safe hospital practices—can make a big difference in saving lives.
She also pointed out that patient safety is not just the responsibility of healthcare workers, but also of patients, families, and the community. By being aware, asking the right questions, and following safety guidelines, everyone can contribute to preventing harm and improving health outcomes. The program helped create awareness among students about real-life healthcare challenges, especially in the post-pandemic world. The message encouraged future teachers to play a role in promoting health and safety education. The session received excellent feedback from students and teachers alike. Many appreciated how the topic was relevant, informative, and delivered in a relatable way.
