REPORT ON WORLD OZONE DAY

World Ozone Day Celebration Report
Venue: Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education
Date: 16th September 2024

The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education observed World Ozone Day on 16th September 2024 with the theme "Protect the Ozone Layer – Preventing Ozone Layer Depletion: A Collective Responsibility!" The event aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty about the importance of the ozone layer and the urgent need to protect it from depletion.

The program commenced with a welcome speech by the Principal, who highlighted the historical significance of World Ozone Day, commemorating the signing of the Montreal Protocol in 1987. Various informative sessions were conducted to educate students about the causes of ozone depletion, its harmful effects on the environment and human health, and the steps to reduce the use of ozone-depleting substances.

As part of the event, students showcased presentations on environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the role of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth. The highlight of the celebration was a symbolic act featuring a green hand holding a tree inside a glass globe, representing the delicate balance of nature and the collective role of humanity in its protection.

The program concluded with a pledge by all participants to adopt eco-friendly practices and spread awareness about the importance of preserving the ozone layer. The event was a great success and served as a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.
