Report on International Day of Democracy Celebration

To commemorate the International Day of Democracy, Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a special event on September 15, 2024, aimed at fostering awareness and encouraging student engagement in democratic values and civic responsibilities.
As part of the celebration, a Discussion and Essay Writing Competition was held under the theme of democracy, inviting students to express their views, share insights, and critically reflect on the state of democracy in contemporary society. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments.
The program began with a brief address by the Principal, highlighting the significance of the day and the importance of democratic principles in shaping responsible citizens. The discussion segment provided a platform for students to voice their opinions on current democratic challenges and possible reforms, while the essay competition allowed them to articulate their thoughts in a structured and impactful manner.
Judges evaluated the submissions based on clarity, relevance, depth of analysis, and originality. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the best performers, acknowledging their efforts and encouraging further participation in civic-oriented activities.
The celebration successfully ignited awareness and appreciation for democratic values among students, reaffirming the college’s commitment to nurturing informed and active citizens.
