The morning assembly was conducted by the Department of Mathematics of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education to observe the International Day of Sign Languages. The programme began with the morning prayer, followed by a brief introduction to the importance of sign languages in promoting inclusivity and communication for the hearing-impaired community.

A speech was delivered by Ms. Soorya Sugathan, who highlighted the role of sign language as a bridge for communication and a tool for fostering equal opportunities. She explained the global recognition of sign languages and encouraged students to be more aware of and sensitive to the needs of individuals with hearing disabilities.

The visual representation of hands spelling “LOVE” in sign language on the event poster reinforced the theme of the day. The assembly concluded with an inspiring message on embracing diversity and fostering empathy through inclusive communication.
