OATH TAKING ON DOWRY PROHIBITION

The Grievance Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized an Oath Taking Ceremony on Dowry Prohibition on 26th November 2024 at 11:00 AM. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful practice of dowry, promote gender equality, and encourage students to commit to rejecting dowry in all forms. The initiative was conducted as part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to combat social injustices and promote ethical values among students.

The session began with a brief introduction explaining the purpose of the event and the significance of the Dowry Prohibition Act. Faculty members highlighted the negative consequences of dowry practices, including financial burden, emotional distress, domestic violence, and gender discrimination. Students were reminded of their responsibility to challenge harmful traditions and uphold fairness and respect within society.

Following the introduction, all participants took a solemn oath pledging not to give or take dowry and to stand firmly against any instance of dowry-related harassment or discrimination. The oath emphasized the importance of ethical decision-making, social responsibility, and commitment to equality. Students repeated the pledge with sincerity, signifying their support for a dowry-free society.

The event created a sense of collective responsibility and reinforced the idea that social change begins with individual action. Students expressed appreciation for the initiative and acknowledged the importance of promoting awareness on such issues within educational institutions.

The programme concluded with a message from the coordinators encouraging students to spread awareness about dowry prohibition and to advocate for respect, equality, and dignity in all relationships. The Oath Taking Ceremony was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Grievance Club’s dedication to promoting social justice, ethical values, and a supportive campus environment.
