HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

World Human Rights Day was celebrated on December 10, 2024, at MAHE Co-operative Bed College with a thought-provoking assembly. Human rights, which are the fundamental rights and freedoms inherent to all human beings, were highlighted through a speech by Rishinand. The speech explored the evolution of human rights, comparing the treatment of humans in the past and present, and emphasizing the importance of protecting these rights. The day was celebrated through discussions, reflections, and presentations, inspiring students to become more aware of human rights issues and their role in promoting a more just society. The event drew inspiration from philosophers like John Locke and Immanuel Kant, and referenced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, echoing sentiments found in books like Hannah Arendt's "The Origins of Totalitarianism" and Andrew Clapham's "Human Rights: A Very Short Introduction".
