The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) is celebrated on December 3rd every year to promote the rights and well-being of people with disabilities
The IDPD raises awareness of the impact of disability on people's lives in political, economic, social, and cultural aspects. It also aims to mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of people with disabilities
The United Nations General Assembly established the IDPD in 1992. It was originally called the "International Day of Disabled Persons" until 2007. Each year, the IDPD focuses on a different issue. The theme for 2024 is "Amplifying the leadership of persons with disabilities for an inclusive and sustainable future".
The Color purple is used to symbolize commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality for people with disabilities
