NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY CELEBRATION

The Mathematics Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, celebrated National Mathematics Day on 29 December 2024 at 1:00 PM. The programme was organised to honour the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and to promote mathematical awareness among student teachers.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who highlighted Ramanujan’s remarkable contributions to the field of mathematics and the significance of observing this day across the nation. This was followed by an introductory message by the faculty advisor, emphasising the role of mathematics in developing logical reasoning, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
As part of the celebration, various activities such as a mathematics quiz, puzzle-solving, number games, and logic-based challenges were conducted. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their mathematical skills and creative thinking. The activities encouraged teamwork and made the learning process enjoyable and interactive.
A special presentation on the life and achievements of Srinivasa Ramanujan inspired students to appreciate the depth and beauty of mathematical discoveries. Discussions on mathematical applications in modern technology, science, and daily life added further value to the programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the principal, faculty members, coordinators, and students for their cooperation and active participation. The celebration successfully fostered a positive attitude towards mathematics and motivated student teachers to integrate innovative mathematical activities into their future teaching practices.
