The Mathematics Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, celebrated World Mathematics Day on 14 March 2025 at 2:00 PM. The programme was organised with the aim of promoting interest in mathematics, celebrating its significance in daily life, and encouraging students to appreciate the beauty and logic of the subject.

The event began with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who highlighted the global importance of World Mathematics Day and the need to cultivate mathematical thinking among future teachers. This was followed by an inaugural message from the faculty advisor, who emphasised how mathematics enhances problem-solving skills, reasoning, and creativity.

Various activities were conducted as part of the celebration, including mathematical puzzles, quiz rounds, problem-solving challenges, and games designed to make learning enjoyable. Students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating their logical abilities and mathematical aptitude. Interactive sessions and collaborative tasks helped strengthen teamwork and stimulated curiosity among the participants.

An informative presentation on the applications of mathematics in technology, finance, nature, and everyday life further enriched the programme. The session encouraged students to view mathematics not merely as a subject, but as an essential tool for understanding the world around them.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the principal, faculty members, club coordinators, and students for their active support and participation. The celebration successfully fostered a positive attitude towards mathematics and inspired student teachers to integrate engaging mathematical activities in their future classrooms.

PI DAY

Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) every year, as the date corresponds to the first three digits of the mathematical constant Pi. Pi is an irrational number representing the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159... 

The first Pi day celebration was organized by physicist Larry Shaw at the San Francisco Exploratorium in 1988. Today, Pi day is observed globally, with math enthusiasts, schools, and organizations hosting events, competitions, and activities to promote mathematics education and appreciation. The Mathematics Department conducted some programmes on Pi day.

The first programme was a talk by Anusha from second year mathematics about pi day at the morning assembly. Anusha talked about the history of pi day.

The second programme was the Rubik’s cube solving.It had only one guidelines that to solve the cube in a minimum time. Amaya kv from 1st year English got first prize ,she solved the cube in 1minute 46seconds. Abhijith k from 2nd year biological science got second prize

The third programme was the Pi value memorization. The guidelines were the participants can read the values before the time starts, the winner would be who correctly say the maximum numbers in minimum time. The programme was a great success. The students supported the participants well. Vaishnav S from 1st year Physical Science got first prize by say 46 digits after the point. Neha Fathima from 1st year Physical Science got second prize by saying 41 digits after the point. Anjuna P V from 2nd year Physical Science got third prize by saying 22 digits after the point.

The programme began with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who explained the importance of Pi Day, celebrated globally on March 14 (3/14), representing the first three digits of π. The faculty advisor further highlighted the historical development of π and its applications in geometry, science, engineering, and everyday life.

As part of the celebration, a variety of engaging activities were conducted, including a Pi Facts Quiz, Pi Memory Challenge (reciting digits of π), mathematical games, and a poster presentation on the value and applications of π. Students participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity and mathematical interest.

A special presentation on the history of π, contributions of great mathematicians, and the role of π in modern technology enriched the participants’ understanding. Interactive discussions and fun mathematical tasks made the event lively and enjoyable.

The Mathematics Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organised a Maths Game – Cube Construction Activity on 14 March 2025 at 10:00 AM. The programme was designed to enhance students’ spatial reasoning, creativity, and understanding of geometric concepts through a hands-on and engaging mathematical activity.

The event began with an introduction by the club coordinator, who explained the purpose of the activity and highlighted the importance of experiential learning in mathematics. Students were introduced to the concept of cube nets, 3D shapes, measurements, and geometric properties before beginning the construction task.

Participants were provided with materials such as nets, cardboard sheets, colours, scissors, and glue. They worked individually and in small groups to create well-structured cubes using mathematical precision. The activity promoted careful measurement, planning, symmetry, and visualisation—essential skills for effective mathematics learning.

The cube construction task also encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity. Students decorated their cubes and showcased innovative designs, which added an enjoyable and artistic dimension to the activity. Faculty members guided and motivated the participants throughout the session.

The programme concluded with a display of the completed cube models, appreciating the efforts of all participants. The Literary Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a vibrant and expressive Literary Open Mic Event on 13 March 2025 at 2:00 PM in the college campus. The programme aimed to provide students with a creative platform to showcase their literary talents and to encourage spontaneous expression in a supportive environment.

The event began with a welcome address by the club coordinators, who emphasized the significance of open mic sessions in nurturing confidence, creativity, and literary appreciation. Participants were invited to perform pieces of their choice, including poetry recitations, short stories, spoken word performances, monologues, and reflective writings.

Students enthusiastically shared original works as well as selected literary pieces, presenting a rich blend of emotions, themes, and styles. The open and interactive setting encouraged performers to express themselves freely, while the audience responded warmly, creating an inspiring and inclusive atmosphere.

Faculty members appreciated the diversity and depth of the performances, commending the participants for their creativity, voice modulation, clarity, and emotional engagement. The event successfully fostered a culture of artistic expression and literary dialogue within the college.

National Vaccination Day

The students of Biological Science organized National Vaccination Day programme on 17/03/2025, during the morning assembly. Abhinand P conducted a awareness speech about the importance of vaccination in present livelihood. He conveyed the significance of celebrating the day and discussed about the side effects of lack of vaccination. It was very informative, and we received wonderful feedback from both students and teachers.

GUEST AUTHOR EVENT CONDUCTED BY LITERARY CLUB OF MCCTE MAHE

The Literary Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an inspiring Guest Author Event on 13 March 2025 at 11:30 AM in the college campus. The programme aimed to enrich students’ literary exposure, promote reading habits, and provide an opportunity to interact directly with an accomplished author.

The session began with a warm welcome by the club coordinators, who highlighted the importance of author interactions in deepening students’ appreciation of literature and writing. The invited guest author shared insights into their writing journey, creative process, and experiences in the literary field.

During the interactive talk, the author discussed themes related to storytelling, character development, contemporary literary trends, and the significance of reading in shaping critical thinking. The De-Addiction Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Anti-Drug Awareness Flash Mob on 12th March 2025 at 12:45 PM as part of its ongoing initiatives to promote awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage youth to lead a healthy, addiction-free life.

The programme began with a brief introduction to the purpose of the flash mob, highlighting the urgent need to address rising substance abuse among young people. The flash mob aimed to creatively engage students and convey strong anti-drug messages through dance, expression, and impactful visuals.

The performance featured energetic choreography and expressive movements that symbolized the struggle against addiction and the importance of choosing a positive path. Students performed with enthusiasm, capturing the attention of the campus community.

Key awareness messages highlighted during the flash mob included:

The programme was designed to help students understand the importance of being present in the moment while performing everyday activities.

The programme began with a brief introduction on the concept of mindfulness and its relevance to mental health. They were encouraged to observe each step of the cooking process carefully, including handling ingredients, noticing textures, aromas, colours, and movements, and experiencing the joy of mindful participation.

The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the rules and objectives of the scavenger hunt. Students were divided into teams and given a set of clues that required quick thinking, observation, coordination, and logical reasoning. Each team had to locate a series of hidden items or checkpoints within the campus by solving the given clues.

The activity aimed to educate students about real-life challenges faced by women and to encourage a strong sense of social responsibility.

The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the importance of gender justice and the need to address discrimination, harassment, and violence faced by women in various spheres of life. Students enacted different scenarios that portrayed issues such as domestic violence, workplace harassment, unequal opportunities, and violation of legal rights. Each performance was designed to shed light on the struggles faced by women and the significance of legal and social support systems.

The role play also demonstrated the processes involved in seeking justice, including reporting incidents, accessing support services, and understanding legal protections such as the Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, and other relevant laws. The Quiz Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Women’s Day Quiz on 8th March 2025 at 12:45 PM in celebration of International Women’s Day. The event aimed to promote awareness about women's achievements, gender equality, and the importance of empowering women in all spheres of life.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction on the significance of International Women’s Day and its global theme. Students were encouraged to recognize the contributions of women throughout history and reflect on the ongoing efforts needed to achieve gender equality.

Several teams actively participated in the quiz, which included diverse and informative rounds such as:

• Women in History and Freedom Struggle

• Women in Science, Literature, Sports, and Politics

• Women’s Rights and Legal Provisions

• Contemporary Women Leaders and Achievers

• Rapid-Fire Round on Women-Centric Topics

The Quiz Club coordinators ensured fair scoring, smooth transitions between rounds, and active engagement of the audience. Many students from the audience also participated in answering bonus questions and cheering for the competing teams.

At the end of the competition, the winning team was declared and appreciated for their commendable performance. All participants received acknowledgement for their enthusiasm and involvement.

Women’s Day :Report on Penalty Shoot out on event

    REPORT ON PENALTY SHOOT OUT ON EVENT

The Women's Cell at our college recently organized a penalty shootout event, which turned out to be an exciting and empowering experience for all participants. The event aimed to promote women's participation in sports and foster a sense of community among female students. The penalty shootout took place on the college football field, with over 20 participants from various departments and years. The event was divided into two rounds: a qualifying round and a final round. In the qualifying round, each participant took five penalty shots, and the top eight scorers moved on to the final round. The final round was a knockout stage, where participants competed against each other on a head-to-head format. The winner of each matchup advanced to the next round until the champion was crowned.

In the end, the top three winners were announced. Shahin Sulthana from the first-year Social Science program secured the first position, showcasing exceptional penalty-taking skills. Anagha NP from the second-year Physical Science program came in second, demonstrating remarkable accuracy and composure. Vismaya from the first-year Physical Science program took the third position, impressing the judges with her speed and agility.

The Women's Cell organizers presented trophies and certificates to the winners. The event concluded with a group photo session and a motivational speech by the Women's Cell convenor, emphasizing the importance of women's empowerment through sports and extracurricular activities. On March 07, 2025 Women cell of Mahe Co-Operative College of Teacher Education organized International Women's Day celebration. In which games were conducted exclusively for girl students. The purpose of celebrating Women's Day is to raise awareness about the status and dignity of women among the students. The celebrations are a fantastic way to promote gender equality, empower women and create awareness about women's rights.

International Women's 2025 celebrated in March 08,2025 calls for a world free from bias, stereotypes and discrimination. This year's theme, "For All Women and Girls: Rights, Equality, Empowerment". Emphasis the urgent need to accelerate action for gender equality and empower the next generation. International Women's Day 2025 theme highlights the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and platform for Action, a landmark commitment to advancing women's rights globally. As inequality persists, this day serves as a rallying call to celebrate achievements, raise awareness and demand action from leaders, co-operations and community.

Anil from first year English delivered a speech recognizing the vital contributions of women to the society. Afterwards a melodious song was delivered by Ann Mary Jose. International Women's Day (8 March, 2025) is a day for us to join voices with people around the world and shout our message for equal rights loud and clear: "Women's rights are human rights!" We celebrate all women, in all their diversities. We embrace their facets and intersections of faith, race, ethnicity, gender or sexual identity, or disability. We celebrate those who came before us, those who stand beside us now, and those who will come after. It's a time to celebrate the achievements of women, whether social, political, economic or cultural. In 1908, against a backdrop of terrible working conditions and exploitation, 15,000 women took to the streets in New York protesting for shorter hours, better pay and voting rights. The next year the Socialist Party of America announced a National Women's Day to honour the strikers, and in 1910 it went global - the Socialist International voted for the creation of a Women's Day to advocate for suffrage. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911, and more than a million people turned out to rallies in Europe. For most of the 20th century International Women's Day was acknowledged and celebrated by people at the grassroots level, a rallying point for social justice. It wasn't until 1975 - International Women's Year - that the United Nations adopted International Women's Day on 8 March, when it is still held.
