PI DAY CELEBRATION REPORT

On 14 th March 2024, Pi Day was celebrated at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education,Mahe,to promote interest and enthusiasm for mathematics among students, while also providing a platform to explore creative and fun ways to engage with mathematical concepts—especially the number π (pi).

   The event began with a brief introduction explaining the significance of March 14th (3.14), commonly known as Pi Day, in honor of the mathematical constant π.

Then Students were introduced to the concept of pi as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. A mini-exhibition displayed its historical background, irrationality, and infinite digits. 

Fun facts about pi were shared, such as:

   * Pi never ends or repeats.

   * It originates from the Greek word for           “perimeter.”

   * It has been computed to trillions of  

      digits with 

The Pi Day celebration successfully combined learning with creativity. It fostered a fun, collaborative environment and deepened students’ appreciation for mathematics beyond textbooks. The event received positive feedback from both students and faculty, and many expressed interest in making it an annual tradition.

No Smoking Day 2024

No Smoking Day is observed every year on the second Wednesday of March to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and to encourage people to quit tobacco use. In 2024, this significant day was celebrated on 13th March.

The event, held at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, aimed to educate students, staff, and the community about the dangerous health consequences of smoking and secondhand smoke exposure. A powerful poster was displayed to visually emphasize the theme and message of the day. The artwork depicted the emotional and physical damage smoking inflicts not just on the smoker, but also on their loved ones—especially children.

The theme for this year was "Protecting children from tobacco industry interference." This theme highlighted the importance of shielding the younger generation from the manipulative strategies employed by tobacco companies to lure them into tobacco use. It served as a call to action for educators, families, and policymakers to safeguard children's futures and promote a smoke-free environment.

Through this initiative, the college reaffirmed its commitment to public health education and encouraged everyone to take a step towards a healthier, smoke-free life.

WOMEN'S DAY EXTEMPORIZATION PROGRAM

 REPORT ON WOMENS DAY EXTEMPORIZATION PROGRAM

On March 12, as part of the Women's Day celebrations, the Women's Cell at our college organized an extemporization program in the college premises, commencing at 2:00 pm. The program began with an address by Ms. Naiji, the Coordinator of the Women's Cell, setting the tone for the proceedings. Following this, Anilya, the Secretary of the Women's Cell, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of the occasion.

The core of the event revolved around a competitive format where contestants drew topics randomly from a box and were given a minute to prepare before presenting their thoughts. A total of eight participants enthusiastically engaged in this intellectual challenge, showcasing their impromptu speaking skills. Each contestant delivered their perspective on the assigned topic with clarity and conviction.

After a captivating series of speeches, the judges deliberated and announced the winners. Arshaksh Shahin, a first-year physical science student, impressed the audience and judges alike with her articulate delivery and insightful content, emerging as the champion. Shana, also a first-year physical science student, secured the second position with his compelling presentation, closely followed by Gokul, a first-year maths student, who secured the third place with his thought-provoking discourse.

The program concluded on a high note at 4:30 pm, leaving the audience inspired and appreciative of the talent and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants. The event not only celebrated Women's Day but also provided a platform for students to showcase their oratory skills and intellectual prowess, contributing to the vibrant academic culture of our institution.

Report of Tour Program - 2024

REPORT OF THE TOUR PROGRAM

The tour program organized by Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education commenced on March 2, 2024, and concluded on March 12, 2024. This 10-day journey provided an enriching experience to the participants, encompassing visits to several historically significant and culturally vibrant destinations across India.

The success of this tour program owes gratitude to the organizers, coordinators, and participants for their dedication, cooperation, and enthusiasm throughout the journey. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution and memorable experiences of this educational excursion.

The journey commenced on March 2, 2024 with boarding the Mangala Lakshadweep Express. Participants embarked on an exciting adventure, filled with anticipation and enthusiasm.

On March 4, 2024, the team arrived at Agra, where the group visited the majestic Agra Fort and the iconic Taj Mahal. Participants also had the opportunity for shopping, indulging in local crafts and souvenirs.

On March 5, 2024, the team departure to Delhi, where the group explored the Indira Gandhi Museum and the historic Red Fort. Evening was dedicated to shopping, allowing participants to experience the vibrant markets of Delhi.

On day 5 (March 6, 2024), the team visited prominent landmarks in Delhi, including the Birla Mandir, Qutub Minar, and India Gate, provided insights into the rich cultural heritage of India. The day concluded with a night departure from Delhi.

On March 7, 2024, the team reached Mandi. After breakfast and a refreshing break, the group proceeded to Kullu for an exhilarating rafting experience. Some participants opted to stay back on the bus. Later in the evening, the group reached Manali for an overnight stay.

The next day the group visited snow point, Solang Valley, and the Hadimba Temple in Manali offered breathtaking views and cultural immersion. Night travel to Amritsar commenced.

On March 9, 2024, the team reached Amritsar, where the group visited Jallianwala Bagh, the revered Golden Temple, and savored food from the Langar at the Golden Temple. A visit to the Wagah Border added patriotic fervor to the itinerary.

On March 10, 2024, the return journey started at 5 a.m., marking the conclusion of a memorable and enriching tour program. Participants cherished the experiences and memories gathered throughout the trip.

The tour organized by Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education provided participants with a holistic learning experience, combining historical exploration, cultural immersion, and recreational activities. Such initiatives contribute significantly to the overall development and enrichment of students' educational journeys.

WOMENS DAY QUIZ PROGRAM

 REPORT ON WOMENS DAY QUIZ PROGRAM

The Women's Day Quiz Program was organized to commemorate International Women's Day and celebrate the achievements and contributions of women worldwide. The event aimed to raise awareness about gender equality and empower participants through knowledge and engagement.

The quiz comprised 3 rounds, each focusing on different aspects of women's history, achievements, rights, and contributions to society. Questions ranged from historical figures and milestones to contemporary issues and famous quotes by influential women.

Ms Neehara was hosted the program and ms Athulya is assist her .

Engaging and thought-provoking questions challenged participants' knowledge and sparked discussions on women's roles in various fields. Interactive rounds encouraged audience participation. Prizes and recognition were awarded to top performers, fostering a spirit of competition and enthusiasm.

The Women's Day Quiz Program successfully brought together participants from diverse backgrounds to celebrate and honor women's contributions to society. First , second third prize were got . By fostering dialogue and awareness, the event contributed to the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and empower women worldwide.

WOMENS DAY DEBATE COMPETITION

REPORT ON DEBATE COMPETITION 

"Mahé cooperative College of teacher education conducted a Debate competition on Theme “who defines womanity?” from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM for the first year students as a part of women's day celebration week. The event was organized by the women's cell.

The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and to train them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The session was the kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding about the topic.

To begin with, each participant spoke their mind on the rationale for, the state of women in today's society further pointing the future. Unsurprisingly, this led to a wide spectrum of views ranging from being hopeful to being pessimistic. Some spoke about being poorly perceived positivity and doubtful future due to severe lack of proper representation, to being an achievable dream that can lead to a more equal and well representation of all.

Points presented were accepted by the spectators with cheers and claps. Some of the points even made us think about the facts. There was so much talent in the room. Arguments were made and roved. The competition was so interesting with the exchange of student's perspective by equally stating the different views of going for womanity.

The Music Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Group Song Competition on 8th March 2024 at 11:30 AM with the objective of promoting teamwork, musical expression, and appreciation for vocal harmony among students. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their singing talents while fostering coordination, rhythm, and creativity.

The programme began with a warm welcome, followed by a brief introduction highlighting the importance of group singing as a form of collective artistic expression. Several teams participated, each presenting songs of their choice from genres such as patriotic, devotional, classical, and folk music. The performances reflected careful preparation, vocal balance, and enthusiastic collaboration.

Participants demonstrated strong musical understanding, including pitch accuracy, rhythm control, and expressive singing. The audience enjoyed the performances, appreciating the variety of musical styles and the harmonious blending of voices. The competition created a lively and uplifting atmosphere, celebrating music’s power to bring people together.

A panel of judges evaluated the groups based on criteria such as melody, synchronization, clarity of lyrics, stage presence, creativity, and overall musical impact. The judges commended the students for their confidence, teamwork, and dedication to delivering meaningful performances.

The programme concluded with the announcement of the winning group and words of appreciation from the coordinators. Students were encouraged to continue exploring their musical abilities and to participate actively in club activities. The Group Song Competition was a joyful and inspiring event, reflecting the Music Club’s commitment to nurturing musical talent, cultural appreciation, and teamwork among students.

WORLD HEARING DAY

World Hearing Day is held on 3 March each year to raise awareness on how to prevent deafness and hearing loss and promote ear and hearing care across the world. This year's World Hearing Day is "Changing mindsets: Let's make ear and hearing care a reality for all".

As another special day was celebrated on 3rd March, we celebrated the World Hearing Day on 5th March. The program was conducted through online mode in the google meet. A talk was organised on World Hearing Day. It was handled by Navya K, first year B.Ed Physical science student. She spoke about the importance of this day. After the talk, she presented a Power Point presentation mainly focused on the sign language used by people with hearing disability. She Explained the American sign language system.

National Safety Day

"National Safety Day is observed on March 4, every year, and it's an opportunity to start the conversation about safety in places like workplaces, homes, industries, and public areas.

Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, conducted this programme on 5th March. The programme was led by English department students. An awareness talk was conducted by Ameesha K.V .Along with that a slogan writing competition was held and the best slogan was chosen. The winners of the slogan writing competition are Arathi, Shabnam and Swetha."

World Wildlife Day

United Nations World Wildlife Day (WWD) is celebrated every year on March 3 to celebrate wild animals and plants. Every year, we recognize the unique roles and contributions of wildlife to people and the planet.

The WWD 2024 Theme is "Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation".

In the online meeting, Megha Mohan, first year B.Ed Physical science student, presented a speech. She explained the history, theme and significance of wildlife photography contest that was organised at the department level. Prayoj MK from first year B.Ed Biological science department won the first prize. Anusha M from first year B.Ed Mathematics department and Siham Rahim from first year B.Ed English department secured the second and third position respectively."

Zero Discrimination Day

Report on Zero Discrimination Day, 

01 March 2024

Zero Discrimination Day is marked every year on March 1 by the United Nations (UN) and other international organisations. This day is observed by all UN member countries and it aims to promote equality before the law.

Executive Director of UNAIDS Michel Sidéki launched Zero Discrimination Day in Beijing on March 1, 2014.

For a social or political issue it is pivotal to avoid all sorts of discrimination. For a humanity, it is flourishing when there is no discrimination.

Mathematics association of Mahe co teachers education conducted a program on 01 March 2024 to celebrate Zero Discrimination day. The program was held at 08:00 pm. Insaana, First year B ed mathematics student was the anchor. First year B ed mathematics student was also invited to talk about the topic of the poster competition "Zero Discrimination and its importance. The poster making competition was to protect everyone's right".

Pravitha First year B Ed social science student won the first prize, Sarang, First year B Ed physical science student won the second prize and Siham, First year B Ed English student won the third prize.

WORLD CIVIL DEFENCE DAY

World Civil Defence Day is celebrated every year on 1 March. The day is committed to bringing issues to light about the significance of civil defence measures in shielding individuals and their property from natural disasters, accidents, and different crises.

World Civil Defence Day is a strong sign of the basic role that civil defence organizations play in shielding our security and prosperity. By promoting readiness, cultivating joint effort, and tending to difficulties, the day urges activity to fabricate a stronger and safe society.

Mathematics association of Mahe cooperative college of teacher education conducted programs on 6th March 2024 to celebrate World Civil Defence Day. The program was held in online Google Meet at 8:00 pm. Gokuldas, first year B.Ed Mathematics student, was the Anchor. He invited Mayoogha, first year B.Ed Mathematics student, to talk about the day and its importance. The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Voters Registration Drive on 29th February 2024 at 10:30 AM with the objective of promoting electoral participation and ensuring that eligible students and staff were registered as voters.

The programme began with a brief introduction on the importance of voter registration as a fundamental step in strengthening democracy. Students were informed about the significance of exercising their voting rights and the role of young voters in contributing to free and fair elections.

Officials and coordinators guided participants through the registration procedures, including:

• Eligibility criteria for new voters

• Required documents for registration

• Online and offline application processes

• Corrections and updates in voter ID details

• Steps to track application status

Students actively participated in the drive, clearing doubts and completing their voter registration forms with the assistance of club members. The activity helped first-time voters understand the registration process clearly and motivated them to become responsible citizens.

The programme created awareness about the importance of political participation and encouraged students to take part in upcoming electoral activities.

The event concluded with a message emphasizing the power of every vote and encouraging all eligible students to participate in the democratic process.

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Research Project Presentation Programme on 29th February 2024 at 10:30 AM. The initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of electoral processes, democratic values, and voter awareness through research-based learning.

The session began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the purpose of the programme. Students were encouraged to adopt a critical and analytical approach while studying topics related to elections, citizenship, and democratic participation.

As part of the event, students presented research projects on themes such as:

• Importance of voter education among youth

• Role of the Election Commission in ensuring free and fair elections

• Impact of social media on voter behaviour

• Electoral reforms in India

• Challenges in increasing voter turnout

• Rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy

Participants presented their objectives, methodology, findings, and conclusions with clarity and confidence. The presentations reflected their understanding of electoral literacy and showcased their ability to analyze democratic practices through a research lens.

The faculty panel offered constructive feedback on research design, data interpretation, and presentation skills. Students were motivated to further engage in electoral awareness activities and broaden their knowledge of democratic processes.

National science day

 

REPORT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE PROGRAMME

The students of Biological Science organized the National Science Day program on 28/02/2024 at 8:00 P.M on online platform for the academic year 2023-2025. Aiswarya PS and Vrinda delivered a speech about the importance of National science Day and the biography of CV Raman. Alakananda anchored the programme. A Quiz competition was conducted and the winners are Megha Mohan from Physical science got 1st prize, Ambika T C from Physical science got 2nd prize, Anjali Udayakumar from English also got 2nd prize and Abhinand sasi from Physical science got 3rd prize. We got wonderful feedbacks from students and teachers as the program was very informative.

The programme began with a brief introduction by the club coordinator, who emphasized the importance of scientific writing in developing critical thinking and communication skills. Students were provided with physics-related themes such as emerging technologies, the impact of physics in everyday life, renewable energy, space science, and the contributions of great physicists.

Participants enthusiastically engaged in writing, showcasing their ability to analyse scientific ideas, connect them with real-world applications, and articulate their thoughts coherently. The competition helped students enhance their conceptual clarity as well as their writing proficiency.

Faculty members evaluated the essays based on clarity of content, originality, relevance to the topic, logical flow, and presentation. The event encouraged students to explore physics beyond textbooks and strengthened their confidence in academic writing.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the support of the principal, faculty members, coordinators, and all participants. The essay writing competition was successful in promoting scientific literacy, creativity, and appreciation for physics among student teachers.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY-CHEMISTRY QUIZ

 

National Science Day Celebration

The Chemistry Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe, celebrated National Science Day on 28 February 2024 at 3:00 PM in the college campus. The programme was organized to honour the contributions of Indian scientists and to promote scientific learning among student-teachers.

As part of the celebration, a Chemistry Quiz Competition was conducted, providing a platform for students to test and enhance their knowledge of fundamental chemical concepts, scientists’ contributions, laboratory safety, and real-life applications of chemistry. The competition aimed to cultivate curiosity, teamwork, and scientific thinking.

Several teams participated enthusiastically, answering questions across multiple rounds such as basic chemistry, applied chemistry, rapid-fire questions, and scientific discoveries. The quiz created an engaging and competitive atmosphere, encouraging students to think critically and respond promptly.

Faculty members appreciated the active participation of students and highlighted the importance of National Science Day in promoting scientific awareness and innovation. The event concluded with the announcement of winners and a vote of thanks.

Students were provided with a selection of physics-based topics, including renewable energy, recent advancements in physics, applications of physics in everyday life, and contributions of renowned physicists.

International mother language day

Report on international mother language day

International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. It was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000.

Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, conducted this programme on 28th February 2024. The programme was led by the English department students. A talk was conducted by Sneha.N.

 A competition for a surprise quiz was also held. Shabnam from English department was the one who gave the instructions. There was a one-minute time limit on each question. The students in the biology department emerged victorious in the quiz competition.

The programme aimed to equip student teachers with effective strategies to enhance their academic performance and manage their time efficiently.

The session began with a warm welcome by the club coordinator, who emphasised the importance of structured study habits and self-discipline for academic success. The resource person led an informative session covering various aspects of study skills, such as goal setting, note-making techniques, memory strategies, concentration improvement, and effective reading methods.

Key time management principles—including prioritisation, scheduling, avoiding procrastination, and maintaining a balanced routine—were also discussed. Practical examples and demonstrations helped students understand how to apply these techniques in their daily academic activities.

Interactive discussions, reflective exercises, and group activities encouraged students to identify their personal learning styles and areas needing improvement. The session motivated participants to adopt organised study patterns and develop a positive approach towards managing academic workload.
