Report on International Women’s Day Week Celebration

The Women Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE) organized a vibrant and engaging week-long celebration in honor of International Women’s Day. The events, held from 7th March to 16th March 2024, aimed to promote awareness, education, and empowerment on gender-related issues among students and staff.
Highlights of the Event:
07-03-2024: Debate – "Who Defines Womenity"
The week commenced with a thought-provoking debate on the theme "Who Defines Womenity". Participants passionately discussed societal roles, gender identity, and empowerment, encouraging critical thinking and dialogue.

11-03-2024: Movie Presentation – 'CODA'
A screening of the film CODA was held, followed by an open discussion. The movie’s themes of inclusivity, family, and determination resonated deeply with the audience.

12-03-2024: Extemporization
Students showcased their oratory skills and spontaneity through an extemporaneous speech competition, covering a variety of topics centered on gender equality and women's empowerment.

13-03-2024: Quiz – "Milestone in the Women Development"
A quiz competition tested participants' knowledge of historical milestones and influential figures in women's development, fostering awareness of gender-related achievements and challenges.

14-03-2024: Stand-Up Comedy
Humor took the stage as students performed stand-up comedy, blending entertainment with subtle social commentary on gender stereotypes and societal expectations.

15-03-2024: Flashmob
A lively and energetic flashmob captivated the campus, combining music and dance to celebrate women's strength and resilience.

16-03-2024: One-Day Seminar – "Gender and Law"
The celebration concluded with an insightful seminar on "Gender and Law". Experts and faculty addressed important legal rights, gender-based policies, and the role of law in ensuring equality and justice.

Conclusion:
The International Women’s Day Week Celebration at MCCTE was a remarkable success, reflecting the college’s commitment to fostering gender sensitivity and empowering young minds. Through a blend of intellectual, cultural, and creative events, the Women Cell 2024–25 created a platform for meaningful engagement and awareness.
