Women Cell Inauguration and International Women’s Day Celebration

The ASTHRA Women Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized the Women Cell Inauguration and International Women’s Day Celebration on 10 March 2026 at 10:00 AM in the College Auditorium. The programme was conducted to mark International Women’s Day and to formally inaugurate the college Women Cell named “ASTHRA.” The event aimed to promote awareness about women’s empowerment, equality, and the role of women in society.

The programme began with a prayer by Mrs. Sneha C.K. and Ms. Nandhana K, followed by a welcome dance. Mrs. Niji O., Assistant Professor and Women Cell Coordinator, delivered the welcome speech, warmly greeting the dignitaries and participants. The programme was presided over by Ms. Shradha Sudheer Kumar, Chairperson of the Women Cell.

The formal inauguration included honouring the chief guest and lighting the ceremonial lamp. The Chief Guest, Rtn. Vijayaraja Mallika, Writer and Poet, inaugurated the Women Cell and addressed the gathering. During the programme, the name and logo of the Women Cell “ASTHRA” were officially revealed, marking the beginning of its activities in the institution. The chief guest delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment, education, and the role of women in building a progressive society.

Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Sri Sajith Narayanan (President, MCCIT), Dr. Sreelatha K (Principal, MCCTE), Sri Sreejesh M.K (Vice President, MCCIT), Sri Sreedharan K, Sri T.M. Sudhakaran, Sri Krishna Das K.P, and Smt. Ashalatha P.P (Directors, MCCIT). Mrs. Padmalekha V.M., Assistant Professor and Staff Secretary, Sri Vipin K., Assistant Professor and Union Advisor, and Sri Harshith M., College Union Chairman also participated in the function.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Yesda P., Secretary of the Women Cell, expressing gratitude to the chief guest, dignitaries, staff members, and students for their support and participation. The celebration ended with the National Anthem.

The event was a meaningful occasion that emphasized the significance of women’s empowerment and marked the successful inauguration of the ASTHRA Women Cell in the college. It inspired students to recognize the value of gender equality and encouraged them to actively participate in initiatives that support women’s development and leadership.
