Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, observed National Bird Day on 5 January 2026 at 9.00 PM, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with the Green Protocol Club. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of bird conservation and the need to protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems.
The observance highlighted the role of birds in maintaining ecological balance and emphasised the responsibility of individuals and institutions in conserving wildlife. The programme aimed to sensitise student teachers towards environmental sustainability, eco-friendly practices, and the significance of adopting a green protocol in daily life.
The programme was organised under the overall guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Coordinator. The programme was effectively coordinated by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, in his capacity as IQAC Coordinator, along with Ms. Chaithanya P, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, the Green Protocol Club Coordinator.
The student coordinators Shafna Shirin and Shanty Anil Kumar actively assisted in organising the programme and ensured its smooth conduct. The programme encouraged participants to reflect on human impact on bird habitats and to adopt environmentally responsible behaviour.
The observance of National Bird Day successfully promoted environmental awareness and reinforced the institution’s commitment to sustainability, conservation, and ecological responsibility.
