Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the News Club, observed Pravasi Bharatiya Divas on 9 January 2026 through an online programme conducted via Google Meet at 9.00 p.m. The programme was organised with the objective of honouring the contributions of the Indian diaspora worldwide and creating awareness among students about the global presence and achievements of Indians abroad.

The observance highlighted the theme “Connecting Roots, Building Futures”, emphasising the enduring cultural, social, and emotional ties between India and its diaspora. The programme aimed to sensitise students to the role played by Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) in areas such as education, healthcare, science, business, and nation-building, both in India and across the globe.

The programme was conducted under the overall guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Coordinator. The event was coordinated by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, as the IQAC Coordinator, and Ms. Vismaya K K, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, as the News Club Coordinator.

Student coordinators Ms. Saniya S A and Ms. Sriya S played an active role in organising and facilitating the programme. The session encouraged meaningful reflection among students on migration, identity, global citizenship, and the contributions of the Indian diaspora in strengthening India’s global image.

The observance of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was informative and impactful, fostering global awareness, national pride, and a broader understanding of India’s cultural and professional footprint worldwide. The programme aligned well with the institution’s commitment to holistic education, social awareness, and quality enhancement initiatives.
