Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, observed World Braille Day on 4 January 2026 at 9.00 PM, organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in association with the Special Needs Awareness Club. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of Braille as a vital tool for literacy, inclusion, and empowerment of persons with visual impairment.

The observance highlighted the significance of Braille in ensuring equal access to education, information, and communication for individuals with visual challenges. The programme sensitised student teachers to the need for inclusive education practices and the role of teachers in supporting learners with special needs.

The programme was organised under the overall guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Coordinator. The programme was effectively coordinated by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, in his capacity as IQAC Coordinator, along with Ms. Chaithanya P, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, the Special Needs Awareness Club Co-ordinator.

The student coordinators Ms. Chandana and Ms. Ayisha Rena actively assisted in organising the programme and ensured its smooth conduct. The programme encouraged participants to develop empathy, understanding, and awareness regarding the educational needs of persons with visual impairment.

The observance of World Braille Day successfully promoted values of inclusivity, accessibility, and social responsibility among the college community, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education.
