 International Day of Older persons.

On the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, observed annually on October 1, the Department of Biological Science at MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a meaningful program aimed at highlighting the contributions, needs, and rights of the elderly in society.

The event commenced with a speech by Devananda, a student of the department, who addressed the importance of valuing older generations and ensuring their inclusion in all aspects of life. In her speech, she emphasized the challenges faced by older persons, such as loneliness, health issues, and lack of support, while also acknowledging their wisdom, experience, and invaluable role in family and community life.

The program was part of the college's broader initiative to instill empathy, respect, and awareness among teacher trainees regarding social responsibility and intergenerational solidarity.

The session concluded with a reflection on this year’s theme (if any specified by the UN), followed by interactive activities that encouraged students to engage in conversations about elderly care and community support systems.

A stamp from the college, bearing its name and affiliation number, authenticated the official nature of the event.

GUESS THE LANGUAGE” GAME

The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized an interactive Guess the Language game on 30 September 2024 at 2:00 PM in the college campus. The activity aimed to promote linguistic curiosity, enhance listening skills, and broaden students’ awareness of different languages spoken across the world.

The programme began with a brief introduction by the club coordinators, who explained the rules and the educational purpose of the game. Students were presented with audio clips, scripts, or short phrases from various languages, and they had to identify the language based on pronunciation patterns, writing style, or cultural cues.

Participants actively took part in the game, showcasing enthusiasm, quick thinking, and teamwork. The activity created a lively atmosphere as students attempted to recognize familiar and unfamiliar languages. It helped improve their auditory discrimination skills and strengthened their understanding of global linguistic diversity.

The session concluded with appreciation from the coordinators for the students’ participation and curiosity. Overall, the Guess the Language game was a fun-filled and enriching event that successfully promoted language awareness in an enjoyable manner.

 The morning assembly was conducted by the English Department of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education to mark International Translation Day. The programme began with the regular morning prayers, followed by a brief introduction to the significance of International Translation Day.


The highlight of the assembly was a speech by Ms. Athira C.V, who emphasised the importance of translation in bridging cultural and linguistic gaps across the world. She explained how translation fosters mutual understanding, promotes global unity, and preserves linguistic diversity.

To add a visual element, a colourful poster displaying greetings in multiple languages—such as Hello, Hola, Bonjour, was presented, symbolising the theme of the day. The assembly concluded with a note of appreciation for translators and interpreters who contribute to global communication and knowledge sharing.

The programme successfully created awareness among students about the value of translation in today’s interconnected world.

The Grievance Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe implemented a Complaint Box Setup initiative on 27th September 2024 at 12:40 PM with the objective of strengthening the grievance redressal system within the campus. This initiative aimed to provide students with a safe, confidential, and accessible platform to express their concerns, suggestions, and complaints.

The programme began with a brief introduction about the purpose and importance of having a functional grievance mechanism in an educational institution. Faculty coordinators explained that the complaint box would serve as a secure channel through which students could openly communicate issues related to academic matters, personal safety, harassment, infrastructure, or any other concerns that require attention.

The complaint box was installed in a prominent and easily accessible location within the campus to ensure maximum convenience for students. The Grievance Club assured students that all submissions would be reviewed regularly, handled confidentially, and addressed promptly in accordance with institutional policies. Students were also encouraged to use the platform responsibly and honestly.

During the initiative, students were informed about the procedures for submitting grievances, the role of the Grievance Club, and the steps involved in resolving complaints. The session emphasized the importance of fostering a supportive and transparent campus environment where students feel heard and valued.

The programme concluded with a message from the coordinators, urging students to make use of the complaint box whenever needed and assuring them of the institution’s commitment to maintaining a respectful, safe, and responsive learning environment. The Complaint Box Setup initiative was a meaningful step toward strengthening student support services and promoting a culture of trust and accountability on campus.

A speech was delivered by Ms. Soorya Sugathan, who highlighted the role of sign language as a bridge for communication and a tool for fostering equal opportunities. Community Living Camp 2024


          Community Living Camp 2024: KOODE


       The Community Living Camp 2024 was organized by MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, for the first-year B.Ed. students (2024–26 batch). The camp was held from 18th to 22nd September 2024 at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Velliyode, Kozhikode District.


Day 1 (18th Sept)



The camp commenced with a Vilambara Jatha followed by the Inaugural Ceremony. The inauguration was graced by several dignitaries, including Sri. P. Surendran Master and Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal of MCCTE, Mahe. The evening session included an Ice Breaking activity led by folklore artist Sri. Sudhilal Ondhath.



Day 2 (19th Sept)



The day began with a morning exercise session. A skill development program titled “Mind Your Mind” was conducted by Dr. Gireesh Babu. Afternoon sessions focused on school campus beautification, and the evening featured a captivating folk performance by Mr. Mathews Wayanad, a State Folklore Award winner.


Day 3 (20th Sept)



The third day included Nadaka Kalari, a drama training workshop by Mr. Lineesh Narayankulam. Beautification efforts continued in the afternoon, and the evening session called “Mind Fusion & Rhythm Creations” showcased creative performances by students.


Day 4 (21st Sept)



A sightseeing trip to Thirika Kayam was organized in the morning. The evening featured “Kalayiloode Oru Yathra”, a cultural extravaganza with artist Mr. Sudhan Kaiveli. The day ended with a Campfire and overall evaluation.


Day 5 (22nd Sept)



The final day focused on camp site cleaning and wrapping up activities. Students returned to the college after a successful and enriching camp experience.

The camp was smoothly managed by various committees including Programme, Food, Discipline, First Aid, Publicity, and Cleaning, with active participation from both faculty and student.

The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized a Digital Language Poster Contest on 23 September 2024 at 11:30 AM in the college campus. The programme aimed to encourage creativity in digital content creation and to promote linguistic awareness through visually appealing and informative posters.

The event began with an introductory note from the club coordinators, who highlighted the significance of integrating technology with language learning. Students were invited to design digital posters focusing on various aspects of language, such as vocabulary, grammar, literature, phonetics, language diversity, and cultural expressions.

Participants showcased innovative and well-designed posters, demonstrating their creativity, technical skills, and understanding of language concepts. Each poster reflected clarity, originality, and a strong sense of visual communication. The English Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organised a Dynamic Debate Session on 20 September 2024 at 3:30 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ communication skills, critical thinking ability, and command of the English language. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to express their viewpoints confidently and to engage in meaningful academic discourse.

The programme began with a welcome address by the English Club coordinator, who emphasised the importance of debate in developing language fluency, articulation, and analytical skills. Participants were introduced to the rules, time limits, and judging criteria before the commencement of the debate.

Students were divided into teams representing affirmative and opposing sides on the given topic. Each team presented well-structured arguments, supported with examples, logical reasoning, and language precision. The rebuttal rounds brought out lively and thought-provoking exchanges, making the session intellectually engaging and stimulating.

A panel of judges assessed the participants based on clarity of argument, language proficiency, voice modulation, confidence, relevance of content, and effectiveness of rebuttals. The judges appreciated the students for their preparation, creativity, and enthusiastic participation.

The winning team and outstanding speakers were acknowledged for their exceptional performance. Students expressed that the debate improved their confidence, public speaking skills, and ability to organise ideas effectively in English.

The programme concluded with closing remarks from faculty members, who congratulated the English Club for organising a productive and enriching academic activity.

Overall, the Dynamic Debate proved to be a successful, insightful, and skill-enhancing event that contributed significantly to students’ language development and critical thinking.

World Patient Safety Day



                    World Patient Safety Day – 2024

     The Social Science Department of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a thoughtful observance of World Patient Safety Day on 17 September 2024, during the morning assembly.The event featured an impactful speech by Reshmina Sherin K K, who spoke on this year’s theme – “Safe Patients Save Lives.” She emphasized the importance of patient safety as a global health priority, highlighting how small actions—like proper hygiene, correct medication, clear communication between doctors and patients, and safe hospital practices—can make a big difference in saving lives.

         She also pointed out that patient safety is not just the responsibility of healthcare workers, but also of patients, families, and the community. By being aware, asking the right questions, and following safety guidelines, everyone can contribute to preventing harm and improving health outcomes.The program helped create awareness among students about real-life healthcare challenges, especially in the post-pandemic world. The message encouraged future teachers to play a role in promoting health and safety education. The session received excellent feedback from students and teachers alike. Many appreciated how the topic was relevant, informative, and delivered in a relatable way.

The Transgender Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a Digital Poster Making Competition on 19 September 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in the college campus.

The programme aimed to promote creativity, digital literacy, and awareness about transgender identity and gender inclusivity. Students were encouraged to create digital posters that conveyed strong messages on themes such as equality, acceptance, dignity, human rights, and gender diversity.

Participants prepared visually appealing and meaningful digital posters using various design tools. Their works reflected thoughtful ideas, artistic skill, and a deep understanding of issues faced by the transgender community. The competition provided an excellent platform for students to combine technology with social awareness.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and created an engaging and inspiring atmosphere on campus. The posters were evaluated based on creativity, clarity of message, design quality, and relevance to the theme.

The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education observed World Ozone Day on 16th September 2024 with the theme "Protect the Ozone Layer – Preventing Ozone Layer Depletion: A Collective Responsibility!" The event aimed to raise awareness among students and faculty about the importance of the ozone layer and the urgent need to protect it from depletion.

The program commenced with a welcome speech by the Principal, who highlighted the historical significance of World Ozone Day, commemorating the signing of the Montreal Protocol in 1987. Various informative sessions were conducted to educate students about the causes of ozone depletion, its harmful effects on the environment and human health, and the steps to reduce the use of ozone-depleting substances.

As part of the event, students showcased presentations on environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the role of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth. The highlight of the celebration was a symbolic act featuring a green hand holding a tree inside a glass globe, representing the delicate balance of nature and the collective role of humanity in its protection.

The program concluded with a pledge by all participants to adopt eco-friendly practices and spread awareness about the importance of preserving the ozone layer. The event was a great success and served as a reminder of our shared responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.

The programme aimed to provide students with a platform to express their emotions, ideas, motivations, and reflections, thereby promoting self-awareness, mental well-being, and positive thinking.

The event began with a brief introduction on the purpose of the activity, highlighting the importance of giving space for emotional expression and encouraging open dialogue about psychological wellness. A designated wall area was prepared on the campus where students could freely contribute their thoughts in the form of quotes, drawings, messages, affirmations, and personal reflections.

Students actively participated by writing meaningful and inspiring messages on colourful notes and posting them on the wall. Many contributions focused on themes such as self-confidence, resilience, emotional balance, kindness, stress management, gratitude, and personal growth. The activity created a visually appealing and emotionally uplifting space that encouraged students to pause, reflect, and connect with their inner thoughts.

Faculty members also appreciated the initiative and acknowledged its role in fostering a supportive and mentally healthy campus environment. As part of the celebration, a Discussion and Essay Writing Competition was held under the theme of democracy, inviting students to express their views, share insights, and critically reflect on the state of democracy in contemporary society. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments.


The program began with a brief address by the Principal, highlighting the significance of the day and the importance of democratic principles in shaping responsible citizens. The discussion segment provided a platform for students to voice their opinions on current democratic challenges and possible reforms, while the essay competition allowed them to articulate their thoughts in a structured and impactful manner.

Engineers' Day is celebrated every year in India on 15th September to honor the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the greatest engineers the country has ever produced. He was a visionary, civil engineer, and statesman whose contributions have left an indelible mark on India’s infrastructure and development.

This year, Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education proudly celebrated Engineers' Day on 15th September 2024, with great enthusiasm and participation from students and faculty alike.

The event commenced with a formal welcome speech by the Principal, emphasizing the importance of engineering in nation-building and the relevance of celebrating this day even in teacher education institutions. A brief presentation on the life and works of Sir M. Visvesvaraya was showcased, inspiring students with his achievements and dedication.

An interactive seminar titled “Engineering in Everyday Life: A Teacher’s Perspective” was conducted, linking engineering principles with pedagogical practices and classroom innovations.

The Engineers’ Day celebration at Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education was a meaningful and inspiring tribute to engineers across the nation. The Onam celebration at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education was held on Friday, September 13, 2024, under the title ‘Thakiladi.’ The event was vibrant with traditional Onam festivities, marking the joyous occasion with a variety of cultural performances and games.


The programme commenced with a Pookalam, symbolizing the spirit of Onam. This was followed by mesmerizing performances, including Thiruvathira, a graceful group dance, Onappattu (Onam songs), and a lively group dance that enthralled the audience.






A special highlight of the celebration was the traditional Ona Sadya, a sumptuous feast prepared with delicious Kerala delicacies, adding to the festive ambiance.

Sri Sajith Narayan, President of the college, also addressed the gathering, reflecting on the importance of Onam in Kerala’s history and traditions. Smt. Padmalekha VM, Assistant Professor, shared her insights into the relevance of the festival in modern times.


A remarkable moment of the day was the Mega Thiruvathira, performed by the students, which captivated everyone with its elegance and synchronized movements. Another highlight was the water-filling game that saw enthusiastic participation from both teaching and non-teaching staff, bringing out the fun and competitive spirit of the event.



The celebration concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of various competitions, adding a sense of accomplishment to the joyous occasion

The event featured various engaging competitions such as Poetry Recitation, Essay Writing, and a Quiz Competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from students. These activities were designed to encourage students to express their thoughts and creativity in Hindi, fostering a deeper connection with the language.

The theme of the celebration, highlighted by the slogan "राष्ट्रीय भाषा का गौरव बढ़ाएं — हिंदी दिवस मनाएं!" (Let us enhance the pride of our national language — Celebrate Hindi Diwas!), inspired students and faculty alike to appreciate the cultural richness and linguistic heritage of Hindi.

The event began with an introduction by the club coordinators, who highlighted the importance of understanding India’s multilingual identity. Students participated enthusiastically, forming teams to compete across multiple rounds covering topics such as language families, scripts, regional languages, famous literary works, classical languages, and linguistic facts of India.

Each round encouraged active thinking, quick responses, and teamwork. Participants demonstrated keen interest and competitive spirit, making the quiz lively and intellectually stimulating. The activity helped students expand their knowledge while appreciating the vast linguistic landscape of the country.
