On 9th August 2024, the Department of Biological Science of Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education observed Nagasaki Day to commemorate the 79th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki during World War II. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the devastating effects of nuclear weapons and to promote the message of peace and global harmony.
The event began with a brief welcome address by Hridhika Rajan highlighting the historical significance of the day and the tragic consequences of the bombing in 1945.
Following this, students from the Biological Science Department presented speeches and posters depicting the theme "No More Hiroshima, No More Nagasaki".
The programme concluded with a pledge lead by Devanandha by all participants to work towards fostering peace and opposing any form of violence or warfare.
