Global Energy Independence Day – Power Down Programme
The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a Power Down Programme in observance of Global Energy Independence Day on 10 July 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in the college campus.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable energy practices. Students were encouraged to understand the impact of unnecessary energy usage and the role of collective action in conserving power for a greener future.
As part of the initiative, non-essential electrical equipment and lights were switched off for a specific duration to demonstrate the significance of mindful energy usage. Students and faculty members actively participated by adhering to the power-down guidelines within classrooms, offices, and common areas.
The event also included a short awareness session that highlighted the global need for energy independence, the benefits of reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and the importance of adopting renewable energy solutions. Discussions motivated students to implement energy-saving habits in their daily lives.
The programme concluded successfully with positive participation and heightened awareness about environmental responsibility. The Energy Club reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable living and organizing more eco-friendly initiatives in the future.
