 ANTI-RAGGING CAMPAIGN

Organized by the Grievance Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 18 July 2024
Time: 11:40 AM

The Grievance Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Anti-Ragging Campaign on 18th July 2024 at 11:40 AM with the objective of ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus environment. The initiative aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of ragging, the legal consequences associated with it, and the importance of maintaining respectful and responsible behaviour within the institution.

The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the need for strict anti-ragging measures and the responsibility of every student to uphold the dignity and rights of their peers. Faculty members addressed the gathering and explained the definition of ragging, its psychological and emotional impact, and the provisions of the Anti-Ragging Act. Students were made aware of institutional policies, reporting mechanisms, and the role of the Grievance Club in ensuring student welfare.

As part of the campaign, posters and slogans promoting anti-ragging awareness were displayed across the campus. Students participated in discussions and shared their thoughts on the importance of kindness, empathy, and building a positive campus culture. A short awareness film was also screened, illustrating real-life consequences of ragging and emphasizing the need for preventive action.

The event fostered an atmosphere of openness and responsibility, encouraging students to speak up against any form of harassment and to support those who may be vulnerable. The campaign strengthened the message that ragging in any form is unacceptable and punishable by law.

The programme concluded with a pledge taken by students to uphold a ragging-free campus and to contribute to a safe and welcoming learning environment. The Anti-Ragging Campaign was a meaningful and impactful initiative, reflecting the Grievance Club’s commitment to student welfare, campus safety, and the promotion of mutual respect and harmony among all members of the institution.
