The English Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an English Karaoke programme on 7th July 2024 at 10:00 AM with the objective of improving students’ pronunciation, listening skills, confidence, and expressive ability in the English language through music. The programme aimed to make language learning enjoyable, interactive, and student-friendly.
The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the importance of music as an effective tool for language learning. Students were encouraged to sing English songs using karaoke tracks, focusing on correct pronunciation, rhythm, fluency, and expression. A wide variety of songs ranging from classics to contemporary hits were selected by the participants.
Students participated with great enthusiasm and confidence, performing individually and in small groups. The performances reflected clarity of voice, improved articulation, and strong stage presence. The audience actively encouraged the performers, creating a lively and supportive learning atmosphere.
Faculty coordinators guided the participants by correcting pronunciation where necessary and motivating students to focus on proper diction and expression. The activity helped students overcome stage fear, improve listening and speaking skills, and gain confidence in using English in an enjoyable way.
Students expressed that the English Karaoke session helped them enhance their fluency, vocabulary awareness, and confidence in spoken English. The musical environment made learning stress-free and engaging.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to continue practising English through creative and interactive activities. The English Karaoke programme was a joyful and meaningful initiative, reflecting the English Club’s commitment to promoting effective communication, confidence, and language proficiency among students.
