The Grievance Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Anti-Ragging Campaign on 18th July 2024 at 11:40 AM with the objective of ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus environment. The initiative aimed to create awareness among students about the harmful effects of ragging, the legal consequences associated with it, and the importance of maintaining respectful and responsible behaviour within the institution.
The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the need for strict anti-ragging measures and the responsibility of every student to uphold the dignity and rights of their peers. Faculty members addressed the gathering and explained the definition of ragging, its psychological and emotional impact, and the provisions of the Anti-Ragging Act. Students were made aware of institutional policies, reporting mechanisms, and the role of the Grievance Club in ensuring student welfare.
As part of the campaign, posters and slogans promoting anti-ragging awareness were displayed across the campus. PSYCHOLOGY CLUB INAUGURATION
The MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education in Mahe celebrated the successful inauguration of its Psychology Club on July 15, 2024. The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a Power Down Programme in observance of Global Energy Independence Day on 10 July 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in the college campus.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the importance of reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable energy practices. Students were encouraged to understand the impact of unnecessary energy usage and the role of collective action in conserving power for a greener future.
As part of the initiative, non-essential electrical equipment and lights were switched off for a specific duration to demonstrate the significance of mindful energy usage. Students and faculty members actively participated by adhering to the power-down guidelines within classrooms, offices, and common areas.
The event also included a short awareness session that highlighted the global need for energy independence, the benefits of reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and the importance of adopting renewable energy solutions. The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an Electric Vehicle (EV) Demonstration and Awareness Programme in connection with Global Energy Independence Day on 10 July 2024 at 9:30 a.m. in the college campus.
The programme aimed to promote awareness about sustainable transportation, renewable energy adoption, and the importance of reducing dependence on fossil fuels. The English Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an English Karaoke programme on 7th July 2024 at 10:00 AM with the objective of improving students’ pronunciation, listening skills, confidence, and expressive ability in the English language through music. The programme aimed to make language learning enjoyable, interactive, and student-friendly.
The programme began with a brief introduction highlighting the importance of music as an effective tool for language learning. Students were encouraged to sing English songs using karaoke tracks, focusing on correct pronunciation, rhythm, fluency, and expression. A wide variety of songs ranging from classics to contemporary hits were selected by the participants.
Students participated with great enthusiasm and confidence, performing individually and in small groups. The performances reflected clarity of voice, improved articulation, and strong stage presence. The event aimed to enhance students’ understanding of psychological concepts related to decision-making, perception, persuasion, and group behaviour while providing an engaging and experiential learning opportunity.
The programme began with a short introduction explaining the significance of cognitive biases—such as confirmation bias, anchoring bias, and stereotyping—and their impact on everyday thinking and judgments. The concept of social influence, including conformity, obedience, and peer pressure, was also introduced to provide context for the activity.
In the role play, students enacted real-life scenarios illustrating how cognitive biases unconsciously shape decisions and how individuals tend to modify their behaviour under social influence. The performances highlighted situations such as group conformity, persuasion techniques, biased decision-making, and the effects of authority on behavior. Each enactment helped students see how these psychological processes operate in academic settings, workplaces, and daily life.
