Organized by the English Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education
Date: 25 July 2024
Time: 2:00 PM
The English Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Show and Tell activity on 25th July 2024 at 2:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ speaking skills, confidence, creativity, and ability to express ideas clearly in English. The programme aimed to provide students with a supportive platform to practice communication in an engaging and interactive manner.
The programme began with a brief introduction explaining the purpose and format of the Show and Tell activity. Students were asked to bring an object of their choice and speak about it in front of their peers. Participants confidently presented a variety of items such as books, photographs, handmade crafts, daily-use objects, and memorable personal items. Each student explained the significance, background, and personal connection of the chosen object.
Students showed great enthusiasm while presenting and demonstrated improvements in pronunciation, vocabulary usage, clarity of speech, and body language. The activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and attentive listening among the audience. Faculty coordinators guided the students by offering constructive feedback on voice modulation, sentence structure, and presentation style.
The interactive nature of the activity helped students overcome stage fear and build confidence in public speaking. Students also learned to respect others’ ideas and presentations while developing better communication etiquette.
The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to regularly participate in such language-based activities to strengthen their communication skills. The Show and Tell activity was a lively and meaningful initiative, reflecting the English Club’s commitment to promoting spoken English, confidence, and expressive learning among students.
