The Physics Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, conducted a Presentation Session on the Topic “Science Teachers” on 20 May 2024 at 1:50 PM. The programme aimed to help student teachers understand the roles, responsibilities, and professional qualities required of effective science educators.

The event began with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who explained the importance of reflecting on the identity and responsibilities of science teachers. Students were given the opportunity to prepare and present their ideas on various sub-themes related to the topic.

Participants highlighted key aspects of being a science teacher, including fostering scientific curiosity, encouraging hands-on experiments, promoting critical thinking, integrating technology in the classroom, and maintaining safety during laboratory activities. Presenters also discussed the need for continuous professional development, updated subject knowledge, and effective communication skills.

The presentations were supported by charts, slides, and examples, making the session interactive and informative. Faculty members appreciated the participants for their clarity, creativity, and ability to connect their ideas to real classroom practices.

The session provided an excellent platform for student teachers to develop presentation skills and gain deeper insight into the essential qualities of successful science educators. It also encouraged them to reflect on their future roles as teachers.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the principal, faculty members, coordinators, and students for their active participation and cooperation.
