REPORT ON MOVIE PRESENTATION

International Women's Day is celebrated annually on 8 March. It offers an opportunity to reflect on progress made to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. The 2024 Women's Day will focus on the theme, 'Count Her In: Accelerating Gender Equality Through Economic Empowerment'.

As a part of the celebration, Mahe Co Operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe has celebrated the international women's day on 11th March 2024 by presenting a movie named 'CODA'- The movie of a teenage girl in a marginalised family. The movie presentation start at 02:30 pm at college auditorium.

A hearing girl in a deaf family, limited by mobility, silenced by her surroundings, talent and passion struggles to be heard, but the song she finally sings - absolutely brilliant, some of the best, most sincere, and the best real performances you'll ever find.

The International Day of the Unborn Child is an annual commemoration of unborn foetuses, observed as a day of opposition to abortion, on March 25. It was established by Pope John Paul II to coincide with the Feast of the Annunciation.

At the assembly, we celebrated the day with a talk and poster making competition. Shana MK, first year B.Ed Physical science student, made a speech about international day of the unborn child. After that, we conducted a poster making competition emphasizing the importance of this day. We invited posters from the participants. Arathi from first year B.Ed English department chose first prize, Drishya from first year B.Ed Mathematics department secured second and C from first year B.Ed Social Science department secured third position respectively."

The students of Biological Science organized the world Tuberculosis Day program on 24/03/2024 for the academic year 2023-2025. Akshaya Lakshmanan delivered a speech about the importance of Tuberculosis Day. A Digital poster making competition was conducted and the winners are Shana M K from Physical science got 1st prize, Shyam Rahim from English got 2nd prize and Pravitha.C from Social science got 3rd prize. We got wonderful feedbacks from students and teachers as the program was very informative."

Report on Achiever's Day at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education

On March 23, 2024, Mahe Co-Operative College of Teacher Education celebrated its Achiever's Day with great fervour and enthusiasm. The event aimed to acknowledge and reward the outstanding achievements of students in various academic and extracurricular activities throughout the academic year.

The welcome speech was given by Dr. Sreelatha K. (Principal, MCCTE) and the presidential address was given by Sri. T.K.Sajith Kumar (President, MCCIT). The event was graced by the guest of honour Sri. E.Vatsaraj (Former Home Minister, Puducherry), who delivered an inspiring address. The program was also attended by other board members Sri. Payatta Aravindan (Director, MCCIT), Sri. P.C.Dinandan (Director, MCCIT), Sri. Sudhakaran (Director, MCCIT), Sri. Krishnadas (Director, MCCIT), Dr. Lakshmi Devi (Principal, MCCHE&T), Sri. CT Surendran (PTA President)

The highlight of the event was the prize distribution ceremony where winners of competitions held in the college were honoured. Various competitions including academic quizzes, sports events, cultural activities, and community service projects were organized throughout the year to foster holistic development among students. Students who excelled in academics and secured top positions were recognized and awarded. Students who qualified SET, C,TET, K TET examinations were also awarded. Apart from academics, students showcased their talents in 'MERAKI 2024' Fine arts and Sports competitions were felicitated for their exemplary performances. The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Mr. Aswanth V (Students' Union Chairman) and national anthem.

Soon after the Achiever's Day program, a PTA election was held. Dr. Santhoshkumar V N (F/o Gopika S Kumar) was elected as the new President. Manoj Kumar (F/o Prayoj) and Umavathi (M/o Jyothika) were elected as the vice president.

Women Rights Day Lecture

Report of Lecture on 'Women Rights'

An invited Lecture on 'Women rights' was conducted in Mahe co-operative college of teacher education in association with Women cell on 23rd March 2024 at 2 Pm in college auditorium. The major aim of the program was to provide awareness about women rights. The lecture was carried out by Dr. V. N Santhosh Kumar. The program started with the welcome speech of Mrs.Nyji. O (Women cell co-ordinator). The session was very informative. Somany activities were conducted during the session. That make the session interesting. The proposed legislation defines the 33 percentage of women reservation. According to this, reserves one third of all seats for women in Lokh sabha, Legislative assembly, and the Legislative assembly of National capital territory of india. The session mainly focused on women reservation bill and Human Rights.After the session few students conveyed their feedback.sri. Surendran A P (Union Advisor ) delivered felicitation. MS. The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a Skit Presentation on 23rd March 2024 at 11:00 AM with the objective of promoting scientific awareness through creative expression and dramatization. The event aimed to help students communicate scientific concepts and social messages in an engaging and relatable manner.

The programme began with a welcome address, introducing the purpose of the skit activity and emphasizing the importance of integrating science with performing arts for effective learning.

Students prepared and performed a skit based on themes related to science and everyday life, such as:

• Environmental conservation

• Importance of hygiene and sanitation

• Scientific temper and critical thinking

Every 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization commemorates the coming into force of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization on 23 March 1950.

It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world.

The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues. The theme for World Meteorological Day 2024 is "At the frontline of climate action".

World Water Day – Water Harvesting Programme

The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a Water Harvesting Programme in observance of World Water Day on 22 March 2024 at 10:15 a.m. on the college campus.

The programme aimed to create awareness about the global water crisis, the importance of conserving water, and the need for adopting sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting. Students were encouraged to understand the significance of protecting freshwater resources and ensuring their responsible use.

The session began with an introductory talk on the theme of World Water Day, highlighting issues such as water scarcity, groundwater depletion, and the environmental impact of water misuse. This was followed by a practical demonstration on water harvesting methods, where students learned about simple and cost-effective techniques for collecting and storing rainwater.

Participants actively engaged in the session, asking questions and sharing ideas on how such practices could be implemented at home and within the community. The programme helped students develop a deeper appreciation for water conservation and motivated them to adopt sustainable habits.

The Green Protocol Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Campus Beautification Programme on 22nd March 2024 at 10:00 AM with the objective of enhancing the cleanliness, greenery, and visual appeal of the campus. The initiative aimed to promote environmental stewardship, sustainability, and community participation among students.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean and green campus environment. Students were encouraged to take responsibility for preserving the beauty of their surroundings and implementing green protocol practices in their daily lives.

1. Cleaning and Waste Management Activities

Students and faculty volunteers participated in several cleaning tasks across the campus, which included:

• Sweeping pathways and open areas

• Removing litter from classrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces

• Segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories

• Cleaning and organizing common areas and seating zones

The session began with a welcome address and a brief introduction to World Puppetry Day, emphasizing the cultural and artistic significance of puppetry across the world. The resource person explained the history of puppetry, different types of puppets, and its role in storytelling and theatre.

During the demonstration, students were shown various puppetry techniques, including:

• Manipulation of hand, rod, and string puppets

• Voice modulation and character creation

• Coordinating puppet movements with dialogue

• Basics of puppet staging and performance

The interactive nature of the session allowed students to actively participate by trying basic puppet movements and creating simple character expressions. The event began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction on the significance of World Poetry Day and how poetry serves as a powerful medium for expressing emotions, thoughts, and cultural identity.

Students participated enthusiastically, presenting original poems on themes such as nature, life, human emotions, social issues, and personal reflections. Each participant showcased creativity, linguistic ability, imagination, and emotional depth through their writing.

The entries were evaluated by the judging panel based on:

The programme was led by English department students. Syandhana gave a speech, and then the students planted a tree outside to commemorate this unique day."

World Poetry Day

 Report on World poetry day 2024

"Poetry is a beautiful form of expression. No other type of literature creates such a plethora of feelings and emotions as the abstraction of poetry. World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on March 21, celebrating a linguistic expression that people from all cultures can identify with. The day was proposed and adopted by UNESCO in 1999, on the occasion of its 30th General Conference held in Paris to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international." Students of the English Association presented a programmes part of Day. It was Anjima who gave the talk. Students from every department were called for a poem recitation following the talk. The pupils who performed the poem in a poetic manner were declared the winners.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS

International Day of Happiness is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 June 2012. The International Day of Happiness aims to make people around the world to realize the importance of happiness within their lives.

At the assembly, we celebrated International Day of Happiness. Anjuna PV, first year B.Ed Physical science student anchored the programme. Thejas MK, first year B.Ed Physical science student, delivered a speech. He spoke about the importance of this day. After that a photo contest was organised at the department level on the topic "Share your happy moment". Many students participated in the contest and sent photos of their happy moment. Among them, Anjali Udayakumar from first year B.Ed English department selected for the first prize. Arathi Surendran from first year B.Ed English department secured the second position. Anju P from first year B.Ed Biological Science department and Pravitha C from first year B.Ed Social Science department shared the third position.

Installation of Drinking water pots for Birds

"Installation of Drinking Water Pot for Birds at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education"

To quench the thirst of birds and keep them cool during the summer, the students' union of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education has placed water pots at several places across the campus. The initiative was started on March 20 to help the birds.

Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal of MCCTE, inaugurated this initiative of the students. It is part of our concern for birds and the environment. As an extra activity, the students fill all the pots regularly and ensure that birds on campus do not suffer from heatstroke or dehydration."

Report on International Women’s Day Week Celebration

The Women Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE) organized a vibrant and engaging week-long celebration in honor of International Women’s Day. The events, held from 7th March to 16th March 2024, aimed to promote awareness, education, and empowerment on gender-related issues among students and staff.

Highlights of the Event:

07-03-2024: Debate – "Who Defines Womenity"

The week commenced with a thought-provoking debate on the theme "Who Defines Womenity". Participants passionately discussed societal roles, gender identity, and empowerment, encouraging critical thinking and dialogue.

11-03-2024: Movie Presentation – 'CODA'

A screening of the film CODA was held, followed by an open discussion. The movie’s themes of inclusivity, family, and determination resonated deeply with the audience.

12-03-2024: Extemporization

Students showcased their oratory skills and spontaneity through an extemporaneous speech competition, covering a variety of topics centered on gender equality and women's empowerment.

13-03-2024: Quiz – "Milestone in the Women Development"

A quiz competition tested participants' knowledge of historical milestones and influential figures in women's development, fostering awareness of gender-related achievements and challenges.

14-03-2024: Stand-Up Comedy

Humor took the stage as students performed stand-up comedy, blending entertainment with subtle social commentary on gender stereotypes and societal expectations.

15-03-2024: Flashmob

A lively and energetic flashmob captivated the campus, combining music and dance to celebrate women's strength and resilience.

16-03-2024: One-Day Seminar – "Gender and Law"

The celebration concluded with an insightful seminar on "Gender and Law". Experts and faculty addressed important legal rights, gender-based policies, and the role of law in ensuring equality and justice.

Conclusion:

The International Women’s Day Week Celebration at MCCTE was a remarkable success, reflecting the college’s commitment to fostering gender sensitivity and empowering young minds. Through a blend of intellectual, cultural, and creative events, the Women Cell 2024–25 created a platform for meaningful engagement and awareness.

National Anthem

The inauguration of the Women Cell at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education was held on the 16th of March, 2024, at 10:00 A.M.

Mahe Co-operative college of Teacher Education ,Mahe,was a significant step towards empowering women and guiding them to recognize their true potential in a competitive world.

The event commenced with a captivating dance by Mrs. Anjali Mahesh, a first-year B.Ed student at MCCTE, followed by a soulful prayer led by Mrs. Athulya U., also a first-year B.Ed student.

To the chief guest, the women cell extended a warm welcome to Dr. Jaya O., LL.B., M.A., Presidential address honouring the dignitaries and student teachers present.

Mrs. Nyji, the Teacher coordinator of the program, delivered an inspiring address that set the tone for the event.

Cell ceremonial lamp was lit, and the logo of the Women Cell were unveiled by Adv. P T Jaya .After which Shri Sajith Narayanan, Dr. Sreelatha K and Mr.Ashwanth V, each emphasized the importance and objectives of the newly inaugurated cell in their felicitation speech. 

The program culminated with a vote of thanks by Ms. Alakananda.

The consumer movement marks 15th March with World Consumer Rights Day every year, as a means of raising awareness about consumer rights and needs Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.

World Consumer Rights Day is globally recognised with support from the United Nations and other international actors. For 40 years Consumers International has run the campaign, uniting the consumer movement to celebrate together. Consumers International members help to select the campaign topic each year to help mobilise global action on pressing issues impacting consumers.
