The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an Awareness Talk in connection with World Energy Day on 14 February 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the college campus.

The programme aimed to promote awareness about the global energy crisis, the need for sustainable energy practices, and the importance of responsible energy consumption. The session emphasized the role of individuals in conserving energy and adopting eco-friendly habits to protect the environment.

The talk covered key themes such as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, environmental impacts of excessive energy use, and practical measures that students can adopt in their daily lives. The resource person highlighted the significance of transitioning to clean energy solutions to ensure a sustainable future.

DARWINS DAY CELEBRATION

 The Biological Science Department at Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education organized a Darwin's Day Celebration on February 12, 2024. The event featured a quiz competition conducted by Akshaya Lakshmanan, aiming to educate participants about evolution and Charles Darwin's contributions. The celebration was designed to honor Darwin's legacy and promote learning about his work.

The Psychology Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Intelligence Test activity on 10th February 2024 at 10:15 AM with the objective of helping students understand individual differences in cognitive abilities and providing practical exposure to psychological testing. The programme aimed to introduce students to the concept of intelligence, its measurement, and the use of standardized tools in psychological assessment.

The session began with a brief introduction to intelligence, covering definitions, types of intelligence, and the relevance of IQ testing in educational and psychological settings. Students were given an overview of how intelligence tests are administered, scored, and interpreted. The importance of ethical considerations and confidentiality in psychological testing was also highlighted.

Participants then engaged in the administration of a simplified intelligence test designed to assess areas such as logical reasoning, verbal ability, numerical aptitude, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills. Students took part with enthusiasm, focusing intently on the challenging yet interesting questions. The activity provided them with firsthand experience of cognitive assessment procedures and the factors that influence test performance.

After the test, students discussed their experiences and reflected on the variability in cognitive strengths among individuals. Faculty coordinators explained how results are interpreted and clarified common misconceptions about intelligence testing. LANGUAGE WORKSHOP

 

LANGUAGE WORKSHOP

The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized a Language Workshop on 07 February 2024 at 10:00 AM in the college campus. The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ linguistic skills, enhance their understanding of language structures, and promote effective communication practices.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinators, who highlighted the purpose and importance of the workshop. Students were introduced to various components of language learning, including phonetics, vocabulary development, grammar enhancement, sentence construction, and interactive communication techniques.

The workshop included hands-on activities, group tasks, and short demonstrations that encouraged active participation. Students engaged in pronunciation drills, vocabulary games, and practice exercises that improved their confidence and fluency. The resource person also discussed practical strategies for better language usage in academic and professional settings.

The interactive nature of the workshop created an encouraging and collaborative environment, allowing students to clarify doubts and enhance their linguistic competence.

World cancer day

 

Report on world cancer day

World Cancer Day is an International day marked on 4 February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer[1] and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. The day is observed by United Nations.

Mathematics association of Mahe cooperative college of teacher education conducted programs on 5th February 2024 to celebrate World Cancer Day. The program was held in online Google meet at 8:00pm. Anusha first year B.ed mathematics student was the Anchor. She invited Dhrishya , first year B.ed mathematics student to talk about the day and its importance. He talked about the significance of the World Cancer day. She raised awareness on cancer as a public health issue among students by her talk.

The programme aimed to promote mental well-being, create awareness about emotional health, and provide students with practical strategies to cope with stress and academic pressures.

The session began with a formal welcome and a brief introduction to the significance of World Mental Health Day. The resource person highlighted the growing need to prioritize mental wellness, especially among students who often manage academic responsibilities, personal expectations, and social challenges.

The counselling expert engaged the participants through an interactive session that focused on:

• Understanding mental health and common stressors

• Techniques for managing anxiety and emotional imbalance

• The importance of self-care and healthy coping strategies

• Building resilience and seeking help when needed

Students actively participated, sharing their thoughts and asking questions. The session provided them with meaningful insights into maintaining a balanced and positive mindset.

The programme concluded with a message encouraging students to be mindful of their mental well-being and to seek support whenever necessary. Participants expressed their appreciation for the informative and supportive session.

World Wetlands Day

 World Wetlands Day, celebrated annually on 2 February, aims to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.

Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, Mahe celebrated this day on February 3rd 2024. The programme was led by English department students. A talk was conducted by Nandhana.K.Ranjith. After the talk a video was shown on this topic which was presented by Krishnendhu krishnadas.

PERIODIC DAY-PERIODIC TABLE BATTLESHIP

 

Periodic Table Battleship Competition

The Chemistry Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an innovative and engaging activity titled “Periodic Table Battleship” on the occasion of Periodic Table Day. The programme was held on 17 February 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the college campus.

The event aimed to promote a deeper understanding of the periodic table through an interactive, game-based learning strategy. Students enthusiastically participated and showcased their knowledge of elements, groups, periods, and chemical properties while engaging in a friendly competitive environment.

The activity successfully combined learning with fun, helping students revise the periodic table in a collaborative and enjoyable manner. The programme also encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and quick recall of chemical concepts.

The programme began with a welcome address followed by a brief introduction on the importance of electoral literacy in empowering young citizens. Students were encouraged to participate actively to strengthen their understanding of democracy and the functioning of the electoral system.

Various interactive games and activities were organized, focusing on themes such as:

• Voting procedures and ballot systems

• Roles and responsibilities of voters

• Electoral symbols and political awareness

• Mock polling and decision-making

• Understanding the importance of ethical voting

The Drama Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Face Painting Competition on 1st February 2024 at 2:00 PM as part of its initiative to encourage creativity, artistic skills, and self-expression among students.

The programme began with a welcome address and a brief introduction to the event guidelines. Students were encouraged to use colours, imagination, and facial expression as a canvas to portray meaningful artistic themes.

Participants showcased diverse designs based on themes such as:

• Nature and wildlife

• Cultural patterns

• Social awareness messages

• Abstract and creative art

Each participant demonstrated impressive creativity, colour coordination, precision, and originality. The event created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere as students transformed faces into expressive works of art.

The judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to theme, neatness, artistic technique, and overall visual impact. The competition concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation for all participants.

MARTYR'S DAY

 

MARTYR'S DAY

On January 30, 2024, Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, observed Martyr’s Day with great reverence and significance. The event was organized by the Social Science Association to honor the memory of Mahatma Gandhi and his unparalleled contributions to the nation.

The commemoration featured a special talk delivered by Angitha, which focused on the ideals and legacy of Gandhiji. The session was conducted on January 31, 2024, at 8:00 PM and was well-attended by students and faculty alike. The talk provided insightful reflections on Gandhi's philosophy of non-violence and truth, and how these principles remain relevant in today’s world.

In addition to the talk, a drawing competition was held on the theme “Gandhiji,” offering students an opportunity to express their admiration and understanding of the Father of the Nation through art. The event fostered creativity and deepened awareness among participants about the values Gandhiji stood for.

The program served not only as a tribute but also as a reminder of the responsibility each citizen carries in upholding the ideals that Mahatma Gandhi lived and died for.

 

NATIONAL NEWSPAPER DAY

On January 29, 2024, Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education observed Indian Newspaper Day, a tribute to the vital role newspapers play in society. Organized by the Mathematics Association, the event carried the theme “Newspapers are the world’s mirror,” highlighting the powerful impact of journalism in shaping informed communities.

The highlight of the celebration was a special talk delivered by Gokul Das on January 30, 2024, at 8:30 pm. The session was conducted virtually, making it accessible to a wide audience. Through his talk, Gokul Das emphasized the enduring significance of newspapers in an era increasingly dominated by digital media. The session provided insights into how newspapers serve as reflections of society, recording both achievements and challenges.

This observance was a meaningful initiative by the Mathematics Association to remind students and faculty of the importance of print media in a democratic society and to foster critical awareness about the role of journalism in daily life.

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education celebrated Republic Day on January 26 with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, the English Association organized a series of engaging activities on January 29, 2024. The highlight of the celebration was a talk by Sneha, which shed light on the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution and the significance of Republic Day in upholding democratic principles.

In addition to the talk, students actively participated in a quiz competition and a poster-making competition, both of which aimed to encourage awareness and creativity regarding national identity and civic duties.
