ELECTORAL LITERACY GAME

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Electoral Literacy Game Activity on 2nd February 2024 at 2:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge of electoral processes, voting rights, and democratic responsibilities through an interactive and engaging format.
The programme began with a welcome address followed by a brief introduction on the importance of electoral literacy in empowering young citizens. Students were encouraged to participate actively to strengthen their understanding of democracy and the functioning of the electoral system.
Various interactive games and activities were organized, focusing on themes such as:

Voting procedures and ballot systems

Roles and responsibilities of voters

Electoral symbols and political awareness

Mock polling and decision-making

Understanding the importance of ethical voting
The games were designed to be both educational and enjoyable, allowing students to learn through hands-on participation. The activities fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and awareness about the significance of informed voting.
Participants enthusiastically took part, demonstrating curiosity and engagement throughout the session. The coordinators guided the students, clarified doubts, and ensured that the learning objectives were effectively met.
The programme concluded with a discussion on the importance of active citizenship and the need for youth participation in democratic processes. Students expressed appreciation for the activity and acknowledged its value in enhancing their electoral knowledge.
The Electoral Literacy Game was a successful and impactful initiative, strengthening the Electoral Literacy Club’s mission to promote informed, responsible, and aware future voters.
