It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world.

The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues. The theme for World Meteorological Day 2024 is "At the frontline of climate action".

World Water Day – Water Harvesting Programme

The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized a Water Harvesting Programme in observance of World Water Day on 22 March 2024 at 10:15 a.m. on the college campus.

The programme aimed to create awareness about the global water crisis, the importance of conserving water, and the need for adopting sustainable practices such as rainwater harvesting. Students were encouraged to understand the significance of protecting freshwater resources and ensuring their responsible use.

The session began with an introductory talk on the theme of World Water Day, highlighting issues such as water scarcity, groundwater depletion, and the environmental impact of water misuse. This was followed by a practical demonstration on water harvesting methods, where students learned about simple and cost-effective techniques for collecting and storing rainwater.

Participants actively engaged in the session, asking questions and sharing ideas on how such practices could be implemented at home and within the community. The programme helped students develop a deeper appreciation for water conservation and motivated them to adopt sustainable habits.

The event concluded successfully with positive participation and heightened environmental awareness among students. The Energy Club reaffirmed its commitment to organizing more eco-friendly initiatives that promote sustainability and resource conservation.

The Green Protocol Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Campus Beautification Programme on 22nd March 2024 at 10:00 AM with the objective of enhancing the cleanliness, greenery, and visual appeal of the campus. The initiative aimed to promote environmental stewardship, sustainability, and community participation among students.

The programme commenced with a brief introduction highlighting the importance of maintaining a clean and green campus environment. Students were encouraged to take responsibility for preserving the beauty of their surroundings and implementing green protocol practices in their daily lives.

1. Cleaning and Waste Management Activities

Students and faculty volunteers participated in several cleaning tasks across the campus, which included:

• Sweeping pathways and open areas

• Removing litter from classrooms, corridors, and outdoor spaces

• Segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories

• Cleaning and organizing common areas and seating zones

These activities contributed significantly to improving the hygiene and appearance of the campus.

2. Garden and Green Zone Maintenance

The programme aimed to introduce students to the art of puppetry, enhance their creative skills, and highlight the relevance of puppetry in education and performing arts.

The session began with a welcome address and a brief introduction to World Puppetry Day, emphasizing the cultural and artistic significance of puppetry across the world. The resource person explained the history of puppetry, different types of puppets, and its role in storytelling and theatre.

During the demonstration, students were shown various puppetry techniques, including:

• Manipulation of hand, rod, and string puppets

• Voice modulation and character creation

• Coordinating puppet movements with dialogue

• Basics of puppet staging and performance

The interactive nature of the session allowed students to actively participate by trying basic puppet movements and creating simple character expressions. The demonstration helped students understand how puppetry can be used as an effective educational tool to engage learners and deliver meaningful stories.

The Drama Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a Poem Writing Competition on 21st March 2024 at 2:00 PM in observance of World Poetry Day. The programme aimed to celebrate creative expression and encourage students to explore the beauty of poetry.

The event began with a welcome address, followed by a brief introduction on the significance of World Poetry Day and how poetry serves as a powerful medium for expressing emotions, thoughts, and cultural identity.

Students participated enthusiastically, presenting original poems on themes such as nature, life, human emotions, social issues, and personal reflections. Each participant showcased creativity, linguistic ability, imagination, and emotional depth through their writing.

The entries were evaluated by the judging panel based on:

• Theme relevance

• Language and poetic devices

• Clarity and overall impact

The United Nations General Assembly created this important event in 2012 to promote sustainable management techniques and increase public awareness of the critical role that trees and forests play in the environment. Every year, World Forestry Day has a different theme that highlights various facets of managing, restoring, and conserving forests"Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, Mahe celebrated this day on March 28th 2024. The programme was led by English department students. Syandhana gave a speech, and then the students planted a tree outside to commemorate this unique day."

World Poetry Day

 Report on World poetry day 2024

"Poetry is a beautiful form of expression. No other type of literature creates such a plethora of feelings and emotions as the abstraction of poetry. World Poetry Day is celebrated every year on March 21, celebrating a linguistic expression that people from all cultures can identify with. The day was proposed and adopted by UNESCO in 1999, on the occasion of its 30th General Conference held in Paris to "give fresh recognition and impetus to national, regional and international." Students of the English Association presented a programmes part of Day. It was Anjima who gave the talk. Students from every department were called for a poem recitation following the talk. The pupils who performed the poem in a poetic manner were declared the winners.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS

International Day of Happiness is celebrated throughout the world on 20 March. It was established by the United Nations General Assembly on 28 June 2012. The International Day of Happiness aims to make people around the world to realize the importance of happiness within their lives.

At the assembly, we celebrated International Day of Happiness. Anjuna PV, first year B.Ed Physical science student anchored the programme. Thejas MK, first year B.Ed Physical science student, delivered a speech. He spoke about the importance of this day. After that a photo contest was organised at the department level on the topic "Share your happy moment". Many students participated in the contest and sent photos of their happy moment. Among them, Anjali Udayakumar from first year B.Ed English department selected for the first prize. Arathi Surendran from first year B.Ed English department secured the second position. Anju P from first year B.Ed Biological Science department and Pravitha C from first year B.Ed Social Science department shared the third position.

"Installation of Drinking Water Pot for Birds at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education"

To quench the thirst of birds and keep them cool during the summer, the students' union of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education has placed water pots at several places across the campus. The initiative was started on March 20 to help the birds.

Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal of MCCTE, inaugurated this initiative of the students. It is part of our concern for birds and the environment. As an extra activity, the students fill all the pots regularly and ensure that birds on campus do not suffer from heatstroke or dehydration."

The Women Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE) organized a vibrant and engaging week-long celebration in honor of International Women’s Day. The events, held from 7th March to 16th March 2024, aimed to promote awareness, education, and empowerment on gender-related issues among students and staff.

Highlights of the Event:

07-03-2024: Debate – "Who Defines Womenity"

The week commenced with a thought-provoking debate on the theme "Who Defines Womenity". Participants passionately discussed societal roles, gender identity, and empowerment, encouraging critical thinking and dialogue.

11-03-2024: Movie Presentation – 'CODA'

A screening of the film CODA was held, followed by an open discussion. The movie’s themes of inclusivity, family, and determination resonated deeply with the audience.

12-03-2024: Extemporization

Students showcased their oratory skills and spontaneity through an extemporaneous speech competition, covering a variety of topics centered on gender equality and women's empowerment.

13-03-2024: Quiz – "Milestone in the Women Development"

A quiz competition tested participants' knowledge of historical milestones and influential figures in women's development, fostering awareness of gender-related achievements and challenges.

14-03-2024: Stand-Up Comedy

Humor took the stage as students performed stand-up comedy, blending entertainment with subtle social commentary on gender stereotypes and societal expectations.

15-03-2024: Flashmob

A lively and energetic flashmob captivated the campus, combining music and dance to celebrate women's strength and resilience.

16-03-2024: One-Day Seminar – "Gender and Law"

The celebration concluded with an insightful seminar on "Gender and Law". Experts and faculty addressed important legal rights, gender-based policies, and the role of law in ensuring equality and justice.

Conclusion:

The International Women’s Day Week Celebration at MCCTE was a remarkable success, reflecting the college’s commitment to fostering gender sensitivity and empowering young minds. National Anthem

The inauguration of the Women Cell at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education was held on the 16th of March, 2024, at 10:00 A.M.

Mahe Co-operative college of Teacher Education ,Mahe,was a significant step towards empowering women and guiding them to recognize their true potential in a competitive world.

The event commenced with a captivating dance by Mrs. Anjali Mahesh, a first-year B.Ed student at MCCTE, followed by a soulful prayer led by Mrs. Athulya U., also a first-year B.Ed student.

To the chief guest, the women cell extended a warm welcome to Dr. Jaya O., LL.B., M.A., Presidential address honouring the dignitaries and student teachers present.

Mrs. Nyji, the Teacher coordinator of the program, delivered an inspiring address that set the tone for the event.

Cell ceremonial lamp was lit, and the logo of the Women Cell were unveiled by Adv. P T Jaya .After which Shri Sajith Narayanan, Dr. Sreelatha K and Mr.Ashwanth V, each emphasized the importance and objectives of the newly inaugurated cell in their felicitation speech.

The consumer movement marks 15th March with World Consumer Rights Day every year, as a means of raising awareness about consumer rights and needs Celebrating the day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected, and to protest against market abuses and social injustices which undermine those rights.

World Consumer Rights Day is globally recognised with support from the United Nations and other international actors. For 40 years Consumers International has run the campaign, uniting the consumer movement to celebrate together. Consumers International members help to select the campaign topic each year to help mobilise global action on pressing issues impacting consumers.

On 14 th March 2024, Pi Day was celebrated at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education,Mahe,to promote interest and enthusiasm for mathematics among students, while also providing a platform to explore creative and fun ways to engage with mathematical concepts—especially the number π (pi).

   The event began with a brief introduction explaining the significance of March 14th (3.14), commonly known as Pi Day, in honor of the mathematical constant π.

Then Students were introduced to the concept of pi as the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. A mini-exhibition displayed its historical background, irrationality, and infinite digits. 

Fun facts about pi were shared, such as:

   * Pi never ends or repeats.

   * It originates from the Greek word for           “perimeter.”

   * It has been computed to trillions of  

      digits with 

The Pi Day celebration successfully combined learning with creativity. It fostered a fun, collaborative environment and deepened students’ appreciation for mathematics beyond textbooks. No Smoking Day 2024

No Smoking Day is observed every year on the second Wednesday of March to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and to encourage people to quit tobacco use. In 2024, this significant day was celebrated on 13th March.

The event, held at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, aimed to educate students, staff, and the community about the dangerous health consequences of smoking and secondhand smoke exposure. A powerful poster was displayed to visually emphasize the theme and message of the day. The artwork depicted the emotional and physical damage smoking inflicts not just on the smoker, but also on their loved ones—especially children.

The theme for this year was "Protecting children from tobacco industry interference." This theme highlighted the importance of shielding the younger generation from the manipulative strategies employed by tobacco companies to lure them into tobacco use. It served as a call to action for educators, families, and policymakers to safeguard children's futures and promote a smoke-free environment.

Through this initiative, the college reaffirmed its commitment to public health education and encouraged everyone to take a step towards a healthier, smoke-free life.

WOMEN'S DAY EXTEMPORIZATION PROGRAM

On March 12, as part of the Women's Day celebrations, the Women's Cell at our college organized an extemporization program in the college premises, commencing at 2:00 pm. The program began with an address by Ms. Naiji, the Coordinator of the Women's Cell, setting the tone for the proceedings. Following this, Anilya, the Secretary of the Women's Cell, delivered an inspiring speech highlighting the significance of the occasion.

The core of the event revolved around a competitive format where contestants drew topics randomly from a box and were given a minute to prepare before presenting their thoughts. A total of eight participants enthusiastically engaged in this intellectual challenge, showcasing their impromptu speaking skills. Each contestant delivered their perspective on the assigned topic with clarity and conviction.

After a captivating series of speeches, the judges deliberated and announced the winners. Arshaksh Shahin, a first-year physical science student, impressed the audience and judges alike with her articulate delivery and insightful content, emerging as the champion. Shana, also a first-year physical science student, secured the second position with his compelling presentation, closely followed by Gokul, a first-year maths student, who secured the third place with his thought-provoking discourse.

The program concluded on a high note at 4:30 pm, leaving the audience inspired and appreciative of the talent and enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants. The event not only celebrated Women's Day but also provided a platform for students to showcase their oratory skills and intellectual prowess, contributing to the vibrant academic culture of our institution.

Report of Tour Program - 2024

REPORT OF THE TOUR PROGRAM

The tour program organized by Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education commenced on March 2, 2024, and concluded on March 12, 2024. This 10-day journey provided an enriching experience to the participants, encompassing visits to several historically significant and culturally vibrant destinations across India.

The success of this tour program owes gratitude to the organizers, coordinators, and participants for their dedication, cooperation, and enthusiasm throughout the journey. Their collective efforts ensured the smooth execution and memorable experiences of this educational excursion.

The journey commenced on March 2, 2024 with boarding the Mangala Lakshadweep Express. Participants embarked on an exciting adventure, filled with anticipation and enthusiasm.

On March 4, 2024, the team arrived at Agra, where the group visited the majestic Agra Fort and the iconic Taj Mahal. Participants also had the opportunity for shopping, indulging in local crafts and souvenirs.

On March 5, 2024, the team departure to Delhi, where the group explored the Indira Gandhi Museum and the historic Red Fort. Evening was dedicated to shopping, allowing participants to experience the vibrant markets of Delhi.

On day 5 (March 6, 2024), the team visited prominent landmarks in Delhi, including the Birla Mandir, Qutub Minar, and India Gate, provided insights into the rich cultural heritage of India. The day concluded with a night departure from Delhi.

On March 7, 2024, the team reached Mandi. After breakfast and a refreshing break, the group proceeded to Kullu for an exhilarating rafting experience. Some participants opted to stay back on the bus. Later in the evening, the group reached Manali for an overnight stay.

The next day the group visited snow point, Solang Valley, and the Hadimba Temple in Manali offered breathtaking views and cultural immersion. Night travel to Amritsar commenced.

On March 9, 2024, the team reached Amritsar, where the group visited Jallianwala Bagh, the revered Golden Temple, and savored food from the Langar at the Golden Temple. A visit to the Wagah Border added patriotic fervor to the itinerary.

On March 10, 2024, the return journey started at 5 a.m., marking the conclusion of a memorable and enriching tour program. Participants cherished the experiences and memories gathered throughout the trip.

The tour organized by Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education provided participants with a holistic learning experience, combining historical exploration, cultural immersion, and recreational activities. Such initiatives contribute significantly to the overall development and enrichment of students' educational journeys.

WOMENS DAY QUIZ PROGRAM

 REPORT ON WOMENS DAY QUIZ PROGRAM

The Women's Day Quiz Program was organized to commemorate International Women's Day and celebrate the achievements and contributions of women worldwide. The event aimed to raise awareness about gender equality and empower participants through knowledge and engagement.

Total 13 number of groups Participanted

The quiz comprised 3 rounds, each focusing on different aspects of women's history, achievements, rights, and contributions to society. Questions ranged from historical figures and milestones to contemporary issues and famous quotes by influential women.

Ms Neehara was hosted the program and ms Athulya is assist her .

Engaging and thought-provoking questions challenged participants' knowledge and sparked discussions on women's roles in various fields. Interactive rounds encouraged audience participation. Prizes and recognition were awarded to top performers, fostering a spirit of competition and enthusiasm.

The Women's Day Quiz Program successfully brought together participants from diverse backgrounds to celebrate and honor women's contributions to society. First , second third prize were got . By fostering dialogue and awareness, the event contributed to the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality and empower women worldwide.

WOMENS DAY DEBATE COMPETITION

REPORT ON DEBATE COMPETITION 

"Mahé cooperative College of teacher education conducted a Debate competition on Theme “who defines womanity?” from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM for the first year students as a part of women's day celebration week. The event was organized by the women's cell.

The aim of organizing debate competition was to hone the public speaking skills of the students and to train them to be articulate while expressing their thoughts and opinions. The session was the kaleidoscope of opinions, thoughts and perspective that enhanced the knowledge and understanding about the topic.

To begin with, each participant spoke their mind on the rationale for, the state of women in today's society further pointing the future. Unsurprisingly, this led to a wide spectrum of views ranging from being hopeful to being pessimistic. Some spoke about being poorly perceived positivity and doubtful future due to severe lack of proper representation, to being an achievable dream that can lead to a more equal and well representation of all.

Points presented were accepted by the spectators with cheers and claps. Some of the points even made us think about the facts. There was so much talent in the room. Arguments were made and roved. The competition was so interesting with the exchange of student's perspective by equally stating the different views of going for womanity.
