The Guidance and Counselling Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, conducted a Peer Counselling Training session on 5 October 2023 at 2:00 PM. The programme was organised with the objective of equipping students with essential counselling skills that would enable them to support their peers effectively within the academic and personal environment.

The session began with a warm welcome by the club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of peer counselling in promoting emotional well-being and fostering a supportive campus atmosphere. The resource person for the training introduced the concept of peer counselling and discussed its relevance in addressing common student concerns such as stress, anxiety, academic pressure, and interpersonal conflicts.

During the training, students were familiarised with key counselling skills including active listening, empathy, confidentiality, problem-solving, and providing non-judgmental support. Interactive activities, role-plays, and group discussions helped participants practise these skills in a practical manner. The session also emphasised the boundaries of peer counselling and the importance of referring cases to professional counsellors when necessary.

The participants actively engaged in the training, expressing their willingness to apply the learned strategies in real-life situations. The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Science Quiz Competition on 8th October 2023 at 10:30 AM. The event aimed to promote scientific awareness, encourage healthy competition, and enhance students’ curiosity and knowledge in various fields of science.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the objectives of the quiz. Students were reminded of the importance of scientific thinking, inquiry-based learning, and staying updated with scientific developments.

1. Structure of the Quiz

The quiz consisted of multiple rounds designed to test a wide range of scientific knowledge, including:

  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

  • Environmental Science

  • Scientific Discoveries and Inventions

  • Famous Scientists and Their Contributions

The variety of rounds ensured active engagement and challenged participants to think critically and quickly.

The Green Protocol Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Campus Beautification Programme on 2nd October 2023 at 10:00 AM as part of its efforts to promote cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and aesthetic enhancement of the institution's surroundings. The programme was organized in connection with Gandhi Jayanti, reinforcing the values of cleanliness, discipline, and community service.

The event began with a short inauguration, during which the significance of maintaining a clean and green campus was highlighted. Students were encouraged to participate actively and take ownership of preserving the beauty of their educational environment.

1. Cleaning Activities

Students and faculty volunteers worked together on various beautification tasks, including:

  • Sweeping pathways and open areas

  • Removing litter from the campus grounds

  • Collecting and segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories

  • Cleaning garden beds and public spaces

The Guidance and Counselling Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Mental Awareness Campaign on 24th September 2023 at 11:00 AM with the objective of promoting emotional well-being, reducing stigma around mental health, and encouraging students to adopt healthy coping strategies.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the importance of mental health awareness, especially among students who face academic pressures and various personal challenges. The event emphasized the need to recognize mental health as equally important as physical health.

As part of the campaign, the club organized:

  • Awareness Talks: Highlighting common mental health issues, early warning signs, self-care practices, and the importance of seeking help when needed.

  • Interactive Activities: Engaging students in discussions, reflection exercises, and sharing sessions to help them express their thoughts and experiences openly.

The Electoral Literacy Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, conducted a Community Outreach Programme on 29 February 2023 at 3:00 PM. The programme was organised with the objective of spreading electoral awareness among the local community and encouraging responsible participation in the democratic process.

The event began with an introduction by the club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of informed voting and the role of community engagement in strengthening democracy. As part of the outreach initiative, students and faculty members visited nearby community areas to disseminate essential information on voter rights, voter registration procedures, the importance of participating in elections, and the significance of ethical voting practices.

Pamphlets, posters, and informative materials prepared by the club were distributed to residents to enhance their understanding of the electoral system. Jingle Jamboree – Christmas Celebration

The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe organized “Jingle Jamboree”, a Christmas Celebration, on 20 December 2022 as part of Rhapsody 2022. The programme aimed to spread the spirit of Christmas and promote joy, unity, and togetherness among students and faculty members.

The celebration included several entertaining and creative activities. One of the highlights of the programme was the Christmas Crib Competition, where students displayed beautifully decorated cribs representing the birth of Jesus Christ. The cribs reflected creativity, teamwork, and devotion.

A Carol Competition was also conducted as part of the celebration. Students enthusiastically participated and presented traditional Christmas carols, filling the atmosphere with festive cheer and melodious music.

In addition to these events, various games and fun activities were organized to engage the participants and make the celebration lively and enjoyable. The Christmas Friend activity added excitement to the programme as students exchanged gifts and greetings, strengthening friendship and goodwill among them.

The Women Cell of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe organized a programme on 2 December 2022 at 1.30 PM in the MCCTE Auditorium to create awareness about sexual harassment of women. The programme aimed to sensitize students about gender equality, women’s safety, and the importance of creating a respectful and secure environment for women in society.

As part of the programme, a movie screening related to the theme was arranged to help students understand the seriousness of sexual harassment and its impact on women’s lives.
