World Soil Day Celebration
The Mathematics Department of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a programme to celebrate World Soil Day on 5 December. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of soil conservation and environmental sustainability.
As part of the celebration, a talk was delivered by Ms. Shahana, who highlighted the significance of soil as a vital natural resource that supports plant growth, agriculture, and ecological balance. She explained the various factors that contribute to soil degradation and emphasized the need for responsible practices to protect and preserve soil for future generations.
In addition to the talk, a “Plant a Tree” activity was organized to encourage students to contribute to environmental protection. Students actively participated in planting saplings, symbolizing their commitment to promoting greenery and maintaining a healthy ecosystem.
The programme helped students understand the importance of soil in sustaining life on Earth and encouraged them to adopt eco-friendly habits. The celebration was informative and inspiring, reminding everyone of their responsibility to protect the environment.
