The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Voters Registration Drive on 29th February 2024 at 10:30 AM with the objective of promoting electoral participation and ensuring that eligible students and staff were registered as voters.

The programme began with a brief introduction on the importance of voter registration as a fundamental step in strengthening democracy. Students were informed about the significance of exercising their voting rights and the role of young voters in contributing to free and fair elections.

Officials and coordinators guided participants through the registration procedures, including:

• Eligibility criteria for new voters

• Required documents for registration

• Online and offline application processes

• Corrections and updates in voter ID details

• Steps to track application status

Students actively participated in the drive, clearing doubts and completing their voter registration forms with the assistance of club members. The activity helped first-time voters understand the registration process clearly and motivated them to become responsible citizens.

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Research Project Presentation Programme on 29th February 2024 at 10:30 AM. The initiative aimed to enhance students’ understanding of electoral processes, democratic values, and voter awareness through research-based learning.

The session began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the purpose of the programme. Students were encouraged to adopt a critical and analytical approach while studying topics related to elections, citizenship, and democratic participation.

As part of the event, students presented research projects on themes such as:

• Importance of voter education among youth

• Role of the Election Commission in ensuring free and fair elections

• Impact of social media on voter behaviour

• Electoral reforms in India

• Challenges in increasing voter turnout

• Rights and responsibilities of citizens in a democracy

REPORT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE PROGRAMME

The students of Biological Science organized the National Science Day program on 28/02/2024 at 8:00 P.M on online platform for the academic year 2023-2025. Aiswarya PS and Vrinda delivered a speech about the importance of National science Day and the biography of CV Raman. Alakananda anchored the programme. A Quiz competition was conducted and the winners are Megha Mohan from Physical science got 1st prize, Ambika T C from Physical science got 2nd prize, Anjali Udayakumar from English also got 2nd prize and Abhinand sasi from Physical science got 3rd prize. We got wonderful feedbacks from students and teachers as the program was very informative.

Students were provided with physics-related themes such as emerging technologies, the impact of physics in everyday life, renewable energy, space science, and the contributions of great physicists.

The Chemistry Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe, celebrated National Science Day on 28 February 2024 at 3:00 PM in the college campus. The programme was organized to honour the contributions of Indian scientists and to promote scientific learning among student-teachers.

As part of the celebration, a Chemistry Quiz Competition was conducted, providing a platform for students to test and enhance their knowledge of fundamental chemical concepts, scientists’ contributions, laboratory safety, and real-life applications of chemistry. The competition aimed to cultivate curiosity, teamwork, and scientific thinking.

Several teams participated enthusiastically, answering questions across multiple rounds such as basic chemistry, applied chemistry, rapid-fire questions, and scientific discoveries. International mother language day

Report on international mother language day

International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was the initiative of Bangladesh. It was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000.

Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, conducted this programme on 28th February 2024. The programme was led by the English department students. A talk was conducted by Sneha.N.

 A competition for a surprise quiz was also held. Shabnam from English department was the one who gave the instructions. There was a one-minute time limit on each question. The students in the biology department emerged victorious in the quiz competition.

Event Overview:

The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, through its Physical Science Association, organized a commemorative event on the occasion of Central Excise Day, observed annually on 24th February. This day is celebrated to honor the significant role played by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.

Special Session:

A key highlight of the event was a talk delivered by Ms. Gopika S Kumar. The session aimed to shed light on the importance of central excise in the Indian taxation system and its impact on the country’s economy and governance.

Purpose:

The event aimed to increase awareness among students about the significance of Central Excise Day, instilling a sense of national responsibility and appreciation for the institutions that support the country's economic infrastructure.

Conclusion:

The session was informative and contributed to the enrichment of knowledge among the attendees. It also provided an opportunity for students to engage with topics related to governance, taxation, and civic duty.

Sports week

 Sports are a crucial part of a student's growth and development. They help in the development of mental health and physical fitness in the body. Through participation in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience, and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality.

At Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, sports are an important part of the curriculum. The competition was between the four houses named Blue Hawks, Red Devils, Green Warriors, and Yellow Blasters. Students gave their best to win the medals. They engaged in a friendly match by keeping in mind how to manage time, maintain leadership qualities, and boost confidence.

Closing Ceremony

The sports meet organized at MCCTE by the student union named Meraki was a huge success. Students participated actively, giving their best performances in every sporting event.

Prizes were distributed to the winners for various sports items. The principal of the institution praised all the winners and participants for their hard work.

World thinking day

 World Thinking Day is a celebration of ten million girls worldwide that has taken place on every 22 February since 1926. It remains a day for all Guides and Girl Scouts to think of each other and celebrate their sisters all around the world.

In 1926, delegates from guide and girl scout organisations across the world met in the USA for the 4th world conference. They decided to create a day for Guides and Girl Scouts to celebrate being part of an international movement. Delegates chose to hold the first celebration on the joint birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the scout and guide movement, and his wife Olave, who served as World Chief Guide. And so, 'thinking day' was born.

Mathematic association of mccte conducted program on 24th february 2024 to celebrate world thinking day. The program was held in online through google meet at 8:30pm.Gokul Das first year b.ed mathematics student was the anchor. He invited Ihsaana fathima first year b.ed mathematics student to talk about the importance of World Thinking day.She explained the reason for celebrating World Thinking day.

WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE

 The International Labour Organization (ILO) unanimously adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10 June 2008. This is the third major statement of principles and policies adopted by the International Labour Conference since the ILO's Constitution of 1919. It builds on the Philadelphia Declaration of 1944 and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of 1998. The 2008 Declaration expresses the contemporary vision of the ILO's mandate in the era of globalization. This landmark Declaration is a powerful reaffirmation of ILO values. It is the outcome of tripartite consultations that started in the wake of the Report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization. By adopting this text, the representatives of governments, employers' and workers' organizations from 182 member States emphasize the key role of our tripartite Organization in helping to achieve progress and social justice in the context of globalization. Together, they commit to enhance the ILO's capacity to advance these goals, through the Decent Work Agenda. The programme began with a brief introduction to the purpose of the flashmob—using entertainment as a tool to spread scientific awareness and inspire curiosity among students.

The Psychology Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Intelligence Test activity on 10th February 2024 at 10:15 AM with the objective of helping students understand individual differences in cognitive abilities and providing practical exposure to psychological testing. The programme aimed to introduce students to the concept of intelligence, its measurement, and the use of standardized tools in psychological assessment.

The session began with a brief introduction to intelligence, covering definitions, types of intelligence, and the relevance of IQ testing in educational and psychological settings. Students were given an overview of how intelligence tests are administered, scored, and interpreted. The importance of ethical considerations and confidentiality in psychological testing was also highlighted.

Participants then engaged in the administration of a simplified intelligence test designed to assess areas such as logical reasoning, verbal ability, numerical aptitude, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills. Students took part with enthusiasm, focusing intently on the challenging yet interesting questions. The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized a Language Workshop on 07 February 2024 at 10:00 AM in the college campus. The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ linguistic skills, enhance their understanding of language structures, and promote effective communication practices.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinators, who highlighted the purpose and importance of the workshop. Students were introduced to various components of language learning, including phonetics, vocabulary development, grammar enhancement, sentence construction, and interactive communication techniques.

Report on world cancer day

World Cancer Day is an International day marked on 4 February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer[1] and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. The day is observed by United Nations.

Mathematics association of Mahe cooperative college of teacher education conducted programs on 5th February 2024 to celebrate World Cancer Day. The program was held in online Google meet at 8:00pm. Anusha first year B.ed mathematics student was the Anchor. She invited Dhrishya , first year B.ed mathematics student to talk about the day and its importance. He talked about the significance of the World Cancer day. She raised awareness on cancer as a public health issue among students by her talk.

World Wetlands Day

 World Wetlands Day, celebrated annually on 2 February, aims to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.

Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, Mahe celebrated this day on February 3rd 2024. The programme was led by English department students. A talk was conducted by Nandhana.K.Ranjith. After the talk a video was shown on this topic which was presented by Krishnendhu krishnadas.

The Chemistry Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an innovative and engaging activity titled “Periodic Table Battleship” on the occasion of Periodic Table Day. The programme was held on 17 February 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the college campus.

The event aimed to promote a deeper understanding of the periodic table through an interactive, game-based learning strategy. Students enthusiastically participated and showcased their knowledge of elements, groups, periods, and chemical properties while engaging in a friendly competitive environment.

The activity successfully combined learning with fun, helping students revise the periodic table in a collaborative and enjoyable manner. The programme also encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and quick recall of chemical concepts.

The event concluded with positive feedback from the participants, highlighting the effectiveness of activity-based learning in the teaching of Chemistry. The Chemistry Club expressed its intention to organize more such creative academic events in the future

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Electoral Literacy Game Activity on 2nd February 2024 at 2:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge of electoral processes, voting rights, and democratic responsibilities through an interactive and engaging format.

The programme began with a welcome address followed by a brief introduction on the importance of electoral literacy in empowering young citizens. Students were encouraged to participate actively to strengthen their understanding of democracy and the functioning of the electoral system.

Various interactive games and activities were organized, focusing on themes such as:

• Voting procedures and ballot systems

• Roles and responsibilities of voters

• Electoral symbols and political awareness

• Mock polling and decision-making

• Understanding the importance of ethical voting

The games were designed to be both educational and enjoyable, allowing students to learn through hands-on participation. The activities fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and awareness about the significance of informed voting.

Participants enthusiastically took part, demonstrating curiosity and engagement throughout the session. The coordinators guided the students, clarified doubts, and ensured that the learning objectives were effectively met.

The programme concluded with a discussion on the importance of active citizenship and the need for youth participation in democratic processes. Students expressed appreciation for the activity and acknowledged its value in enhancing their electoral knowledge.

The Drama Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Face Painting Competition on 1st February 2024 at 2:00 PM as part of its initiative to encourage creativity, artistic skills, and self-expression among students.

The programme began with a welcome address and a brief introduction to the event guidelines. Students were encouraged to use colours, imagination, and facial expression as a canvas to portray meaningful artistic themes.

Participants showcased diverse designs based on themes such as:

• Nature and wildlife

• Cultural patterns

• Social awareness messages

• Abstract and creative art

Each participant demonstrated impressive creativity, colour coordination, precision, and originality. The event created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere as students transformed faces into expressive works of art.

The judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to theme, neatness, artistic technique, and overall visual impact. The competition concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation for all participants.

The Face Painting Competition proved to be an enjoyable and inspiring event, successfully promoting imagination, teamwork, and artistic confidence among students. The Drama Club reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging creative arts and providing platforms for talent development within the campus.
