The Social Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe celebrated National Voters’ Day on 25th January 2024 at 11:00 AM with the objective of promoting electoral awareness, encouraging responsible citizenship, and motivating students to participate actively in the democratic process.

The programme began with a welcome address, emphasizing the importance of National Voters’ Day and the need to strengthen democratic participation. Students were reminded that informed and active voters form the backbone of a vibrant democracy.

1. Awareness Session on Voting Rights

A resource person delivered an enlightening session on:

  • The significance of voting in a democracy

  • Rights and responsibilities of citizens

  • The voter registration process

  • The role of youth in strengthening democratic governance

  • Importance of ethical voting

The session encouraged students to understand their role in shaping the future of the nation.

2. Pledge Ceremony

Students and faculty members took the National Voters’ Day Pledge, committing to:

  • Uphold the democratic traditions of the country

  • Participate in elections fearlessly and responsibly

  • Encourage others to vote

  • Work toward promoting free and fair elections

3. Activities Conducted

To engage students and spread awareness, several activities were organized, including:

  • Poster-making on the theme “Every Vote Counts”

  • Slogan writing promoting voter awareness

  • A short skit illustrating the importance of voting

  • Quiz on electoral processes

These activities enhanced understanding and encouraged enthusiastic participation.
