Observance of National Farmers’ Day

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, observed National Farmers’ Day under the auspices of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) in collaboration with the Gardening and Organic Farming Club. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among student teachers about the invaluable contributions of farmers to society and the importance of sustainable and organic farming practices.

The programme was conducted online through Google Meet at 9.00 PM, ensuring active participation of students and faculty members. The session highlighted the role of farmers in ensuring food security, promoting eco-friendly agricultural practices, and sustaining rural livelihoods. Special emphasis was given to organic farming, environmental conservation, and the relevance of agriculture in the contemporary context.

The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal, MCCTE, who served as the General Coordinator. The overall coordination of the programme was carried out by Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, in his capacity as IQAC Coordinator, along with Ms. Namitha T, Assistant Professor, MCCTE, the Programme Coordinator.

The student coordinators Sreenanda B and Thasleema Thasneem played an active role in organising and managing the programme efficiently. Their efforts ensured smooth conduct of the event and active engagement of participants.

The observance of National Farmers’ Day served as a meaningful platform for sensitising future teachers to respect agricultural labour, appreciate the significance of farmers, and promote sustainable living practices. The programme concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants.
