Jallian wallah bhagh massacre day
April 13 2024
The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, also known as the Massacre of Amritsar, was an incident that took place on April 13, 1919. That day, British troops fired on a large crowd of unarmed Indians in an open space called the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, in the Punjab region (now in Punjab state) of India Several hundred people, including children, died, and hundreds more were wounded. This incident is a turning point in India's modem history that led to Gandi's full commitment to the cause of Indian nationalism and independence from Britain No doubt, the incident left a permanent scar on Indo-British relations.
This massacre exposed the inhuman approach of the British when the British troop cold- bloodedly opened fire on an unarmed crowd without any warning by General Dyer who had assembled at the enclosed park for the public meeting that was banned.
On 13th March 2024, the Social Science Association of Mahe Co-operative College of Teachers Education organized an event to commemorate the Jallian wala Bagh Massacre Day.
