"HER CYCLE,HER STRENGTH"

 The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi Ayurveda Medical College & Hospital, Mahe, organized a One Day Seminar titled “Her Cycle, Her Strength” on 11th September 2025 at the MCCTE Auditorium. This was the first session in a series aimed at raising awareness about women’s health and empowerment through education.

The resource person for the session was Dr. A. R. Pushpa Rani, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Prasuti & Stree Roga, RGAMC&H, Mahe. Dr. Pushpa Rani delivered an insightful and informative talk focusing on understanding the menstrual cycle, its physiological significance, myths surrounding it, and ways to approach it with a positive and empowering perspective.

She emphasized the importance of menstrual health, self-awareness, and how traditional Ayurvedic practices can aid in managing menstrual health more holistically. The session provided students and faculty with valuable knowledge and helped dispel long-held misconceptions regarding menstruation.

The seminar saw active participation from teacher trainees and faculty members. An interactive Q&A session followed the talk, where students clarified their doubts and appreciated the openness of the discussion.

The program was coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal of MCCTE, and Ms. Revathy Madhusoodanan, Assistant Professor and IQAC Coordinator. Both coordinators ensured the smooth execution of the event, contributing to its success.

LOCAL HISTORY TEACHING SESSION

A teaching session on local history was conducted on 17 September 2025 at 11:00 AM by Abhiram Murali K. The objective of the session was to help students learn about the historical importance, culture, and heritage of their locality.

During the session, students were introduced to significant historical places, important personalities, and major events that shaped the region. Interactive teaching methods such as storytelling and discussion were used to make the class interesting and engaging. Students actively participated, asked questions, and shared their own observations about local history.

This session helped students develop an awareness of their cultural roots and encouraged them to appreciate and preserve local heritage

“Period Positivity: Embracing Natural Cycles.”

 The fifth session of the One Day Seminar was handled by Dr. Devi, House Surgeon, RGAMC&H, Mahe, on the topic “Period Positivity: Embracing Natural Cycles.” The session focused on encouraging a positive outlook toward menstruation and breaking the stigma surrounding it.

Dr. Devi emphasized the importance of normalizing menstrual conversations and viewing periods as a symbol of health and vitality rather than shame. The interactive session promoted self-acceptance and aimed to empower student-teachers to become advocates for menstrual awareness.

The session was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal, MCCTE, and Ms. Revathy Madhusoodanan, IQAC Coordinator.

"DIGNITY IN EVERY CYCLE"

Following the first session of the One Day Seminar, the second session titled “Dignity in Every Cycle” was conducted as part of the initiative to promote awareness and sensitivity around menstrual health, dignity, and empowerment.

The resource person for this session was Dr. Parthasarathy, House Surgeon at RGAMC&H, Mahe. His presentation provided a medical, psychological, and social perspective on the challenges and stigma associated with menstruation, particularly in Indian society.

He emphasized the need to create safe spaces for young girls and women to talk about menstrual health without shame, and highlighted the concept of menstrual dignity—ensuring that every menstruating individual has access to sanitary products, proper hygiene, and emotional support.

Dr. Parthasarathy also discussed the role of educators in fostering gender-sensitive environments in schools and colleges. His interaction with the audience included real-life case studies and open discussions that encouraged participants to reflect on how institutional and social change can promote menstrual equity.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the student-teachers and faculty members of MCCTE. The session was well-received for its empathetic tone and factual clarity.

The seminar was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K., Principal, MCCTE (General Coordinator), and Ms. Revathy Madhusoodanan, Assistant Professor and IQAC Coordinator, who ensured the seamless execution of both sessions of the seminar.

 

OATH TAKING CEREMONY-WORLD SUCIDE PREVENTATION DAY

As part of the observance of World Suicide Prevention Day, the students of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a Suicide Prevention Awareness Program on 10th September 2025 at 4:30 PM, held in the college courtyard. The purpose of the program was to spread awareness about mental health, reduce the stigma around mental illness, and empower students and staff to be proactive in preventing suicide through empathy and support.

The event was inaugurated by the College Principal, Dr. Sreelatha K, who addressed the gathering with a motivating and insightful speech emphasizing the crucial role of educators and future teachers in creating a mentally safe and inclusive academic environment. She encouraged students to act as mental health advocates and support peers going through emotional challenges.

Oath-Taking Ceremony

A highlight of the event was the Oath-Taking Ceremony, where students and faculty members took a pledge to:

• Promote mental wellness,

• Support individuals facing emotional struggles,

• Be vigilant about signs of distress,

• Never ignore someone expressing suicidal thoughts,

• And contribute to a culture of care and compassion in the community.

SUCIDE PREVENTATION AWARNESS SKIT

 On the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day, the students of MAHE Cooperative College of Education organized a Suicide Prevention Awareness Skit on 10th September 2025 at 4:30 PM in the college auditorium. The program was aimed at spreading awareness about mental health issues, breaking the stigma surrounding suicide, and encouraging individuals to seek help in times of distress.

The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Sreelatha K, who addressed the gathering with an insightful message on the importance of emotional well-being and the role of educators in supporting students' mental health. She emphasized the need for collective responsibility in creating a supportive and empathetic environment within educational institutions.

The skit, written and performed by B.Ed. students, portrayed real-life scenarios faced by individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts. The performance highlighted the warning signs of suicidal behavior, the significance of early intervention, and the crucial support that friends, family, and educators can provide. Through powerful dialogues and emotional storytelling, the skit delivered a strong message of hope, resilience, and the value of life.

The audience was deeply moved by the performance, and many appreciated the students' efforts to address such a sensitive topic with sincerity and compassion. The event concluded with an interactive session where faculty members and students discussed mental health resources and coping strategies.

The program was a thought-provoking and impactful initiative that not only showcased the students' creativity but also served as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness in today’s society.

RED RIBBON TALK

 The IQAC of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), in association with the Pondicherry AIDS Control Society, organized a Red Ribbon Talk on September 10, 2025, at the college auditorium.

The session was led by Mr. Unnikrishnan V R, Counsellor at Govt. General Hospital, Mahe. He addressed important topics related to HIV & AIDS, including prevention, early detection, and breaking the stigma associated with the disease.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Sreelatha K (Principal), Ms. Revathy M (IQAC Co-ordinator), and Mr. Arun U (Staff Co-ordinator). The event was informative and helped raise awareness among students and staff.

SCHOOL LIBRARY IMPROVEMENT

 SCHOOL LIBRARY IMPROVEMENT 

A library improvement programme was conducted on 10 September 2025 at 12:00 PM by a team of five members: Vijnandas K.P, Abhiram Murali K, Snigdha A.V, Archana R, and Anusmaya G.S. The objective of the programme was to enhance the library environment and promote better reading habits among students.

During the programme, the team arranged books according to categories, cleaned shelves, and displayed new books creatively to make them easily accessible. Old and damaged books were sorted for repair or replacement. Reading corners were organized to create a student-friendly atmosphere and encourage regular library use. Students were guided on how to borrow and return books properly.

The programme helped improve the library’s overall functioning and created a more inviting space for students. It encouraged them to make better use of the library resources and develop a reading culture.

“POCKET MONEY SAVING”

 “POCKET MONEY SAVING”

A special interactive session on “Pocket Money Saving” was conducted by Vaishnav S on September 9, 2025, at 3:00 PM for 13-year-old students. The main aim of the session was to help students understand the importance of managing and saving their pocket money wisely.

The session began with a friendly introduction where students shared how they usually spend their pocket money. Vaishnav S explained the concept of budgeting, needs vs. wants, and the benefits of saving regularly, even from small amounts. Simple and practical examples were used to help students relate to real-life situations.

An engaging activity followed, where students were asked to plan how they would spend and save a fixed amount of money for a week. This helped them think critically about their spending habits and identify ways to save more effect

PRILEMINARY LEVEL SELECTION OF STUDENTS

 The Dramatic Arts Society is hosting a National-Level English Role Play Competition in 2025, with preliminary student selections held at Peralassry AKGSGHSS. The event is a platform for participants to "showcase their acting skills" in a thrilling competition where creativity and talent are expected to collide on a national stage. The judges for the preliminary selection hail from the Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education and include Gayathri vc and Vishnupriya (Anglicists), Arsha shivadas (Anglicist), Abhin Raj (actor), and Nandana Vinod (actress).

The Department of English proudly celebrated International Literacy Day with great enthusiasm and purpose. The event, organized by the First Year students, aimed to highlight the importance of literacy as a fundamental human right and a cornerstone for individual and community empowerment.
 

THRIGONAMADHYE(ONAM CELEBRATION)

 The MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, celebrated THRIGONAMADHYE Onam 2025 on September 2, organized by the IQAC in association with the Likha College Union (2025–26).

The event was a vibrant celebration of Kerala’s traditional festival, featuring cultural programs, Pookkalam (floral designs), Onam games, and the grand Onam Sadya (feast). The highlight of the poster and theme was the symbolic presence of Mahabali, showcasing the cultural spirit of Onam.

 The Department of Social Science observed Small Industry Day to highlight the vital role of small-scale industries in economic development and employment generation. The event aimed to create awareness among students about the significance of entrepreneurship, local industries, and self-reliance.

WORLD RANGER DAY

 World Ranger Day, celebrated annually on July 31s, honours the work of park rangers and their crucial role in conservation. To commemorate the day, many organizations and individuals create posters and other visual materials to raise awareness and support for rangers. These posters often feature themes of conservation, protection of nature, and the dedication of rangers.

At the forefront of this workforce are rangers and protected area workers, encompassing state employed personnel, Indigenous peoples, community and voluntary guardians, and personnel of privately managed areas. Their work includes protection, conservation, monitoring, Visitor services, fire management, law enforcement, education, community s Ipport, and regulation of sustainable use.The students of biological science organised world ranger day programme on morning assembly. Step into pedagogy of biological sciences

Mr. Vivek T.V., Assistant Professor at MCCTE, led an engaging session titled "Step into Pedagogy of Biological Sciences" as part of the subject-based orientation program. The session introduced students to the fundamental approaches and methodologies involved in teaching biological sciences.
