The Vanchippattu Competition was organized as part of KALAIMA 2K26, the Fine Arts Festival of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, on Day 1 under Stage 1 from 2:30 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. The event celebrated the vibrant tradition of Kerala's Vanchippattu (Boat Song), showcasing the spirit of unity, rhythm, and cultural heritage through energetic group performances.
The participating teams presented traditional Vanchippattu with enthusiasm, synchronized rhythm, and melodious singing. Their performances reflected the essence of Kerala's famous boat race songs, accompanied by coordinated movements, expressive presentation, and remarkable teamwork. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the lively atmosphere created by the performances, making the event one of the major attractions of the festival.
The teams were evaluated by the panel of judges based on vocal quality, rhythm, synchronization, coordination, authenticity, stage presentation, and overall performance. The competition encouraged students to preserve and promote Kerala's rich folk traditions while fostering collaboration, confidence, and artistic excellence.
The Vanchippattu Competition concluded with the announcement of the winners, who were applauded for their outstanding performances and dedication to preserving this unique cultural art form.
