NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY



 


National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year on December 22 to honor the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. To mark this occasion, the Mathematics Association of Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education organized a special event on 29th December 2023.

The event began with a brief introduction to the life and contributions of Ramanujan, who is known for his extraordinary work in number theory and mathematical analysis. His legacy continues to inspire students and mathematicians around the world.

As part of the celebration, a video presentation by Mayooga was screened, showcasing Ramanujan’s journey and achievements. It was informative and helped students understand the importance of his contributions to mathematics.

Following this, a quiz competition conducted by Gokul added excitement to the event. Students actively participated and tested their mathematical knowledge through fun and challenging questions.

The celebration was both educational and enjoyable. It encouraged students to appreciate the beauty of mathematics and remember the contributions of great minds like Ramanujan

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Debate Competition on 22nd December 2023 at 2:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ awareness of electoral processes, democratic values, and responsible citizenship.

The programme began with a welcome address and an introduction to the significance of electoral literacy in shaping informed and active citizens. Students were encouraged to think critically about democratic participation and the role of youth in strengthening the nation’s electoral system.

Participants engaged in a lively and thought-provoking debate on topics related to:

  • Importance of informed voting

  • Electoral reforms in India

  • Role of youth in democracy

  • Ethical voting and civic responsibility

  • Impact of technology on elections

The debate allowed students to present well-reasoned arguments, counterarguments, and reflections on various electoral issues. Participants showcased strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and awareness of current democratic practices.

The judging panel evaluated the participants based on clarity of arguments, relevance to the topic, presentation skills, teamwork, and overall impact. The competition concluded with the announcement of winners and words of appreciation for all participants.

The Guidance and Counselling Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, organised a Resource Fair on 21 December 2023 at 3:00 PM. The event aimed to provide students with access to valuable educational, emotional, and informational resources that support their academic growth, personal well-being, and professional development.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who highlighted the significance of resource awareness in the holistic development of student teachers. Various stalls and display sections were arranged, showcasing materials related to mental health, study skills, career guidance, time management, stress reduction techniques, and wellness practices.

Students had the opportunity to explore charts, pamphlets, books, digital resources, and interactive displays prepared by club members and faculty mentors. Guidance was provided on identifying reliable support systems, using counselling tools effectively, and adopting healthy coping mechanisms for academic and personal challenges.

The Resource Fair generated enthusiastic participation and encouraged students to make informed choices regarding their academic routines, emotional balance, and future career paths. Christmas Celebration at Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education



On 20th December 2023, Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education celebrated Christmas with great enthusiasm and joy. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff in a festive and cheerful atmosphere.

The celebration began with a warm welcome by the Principal, Dr. Sreelatha K, who shared her greetings and festive thoughts. A beautiful carol performance set the mood, followed by a traditional cake-cutting ceremony. The event also featured a lively gift exchange, where students and faculty shared thoughtful presents, spreading warmth and love.

The college was decorated with Christmas-themed items, including a Christmas tree designed by the students. Fun activities such as carol song competitions, treasure hunts, greeting card making, and other festive games added excitement to the occasion.

The event created a sense of unity and joy among everyone and served as a platform to foster community spirit at the college.

NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY




 As December 22nd, the official date for National Mathematics Day, was a holiday, the Mathematics Association of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized the celebration in advance on 19th December 2023. The event was dedicated to commemorating the birth anniversary of the great Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, known as “The Man Who Knew Infinity”.

The program began with an insightful talk by Ihsaana, who highlighted the life, struggles, and exceptional mathematical contributions of Ramanujan. Her speech shed light on the genius of Ramanujan, inspiring the audience to appreciate the beauty and importance of mathematics in everyday life.

Following the talk, a presentation by Mayoogha was delivered. This presentation elaborated on some of Ramanujan’s incredible theories, his journey from India to Cambridge, and the impact his works have had on the world of mathematics.

The poster theme, “The Man Who Knew Infinity”, perfectly encapsulated the essence of the celebration, paying tribute to Ramanujan’s boundless contributions to mathematical thought.

The event was informative and motivational, instilling a sense of curiosity and appreciation for mathematics among the students.

VIJAY DIVAS



Vijay Diwas is celebrated on December 16 every year to commemorate India’s historic victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh. It is a day to remember the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the Indian Armed Forces.

On December 16, 1971, the Pakistan Army surrendered to Indian forces in Dhaka, marking the end of a 13-day war. This was one of the shortest and most decisive wars in history, with nearly 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendering — the largest military surrender since World War II. The leadership of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and General Sam Manekshaw played a crucial role in this victory.

To honor this momentous occasion, Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education organized a Vijay Diwas celebration on December 16, 2023. The event was hosted by the Social Science Association and featured a special talk by Hridyaraj. He spoke about the importance of remembering the brave soldiers who protected the nation's integrity and inspired students to be proud of India's military history.

The event included student participation, patriotic poems, and concluded with the national anthem. Vijay Diwas reminds us of the cost of freedom and the duty we have to uphold the values of unity, peace, and respect for those who serve the nation.






BHARATIYA BHASA UTSAV





The Bharatiya Bhasa Utsav was celebrated at MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, in December 2023. The event took place in the Central Hall and aimed to promote the beauty and diversity of Indian languages.
Various programs were organized, including poetry recitations, storytelling, song performances, and a panel discussion. Students actively participated in these events and presented content in different Indian languages. The performances highlighted the cultural richness and unity in the linguistic diversity of India.
The celebration was a great success and encouraged everyone to respect and preserve the different languages spoken in our country. It was a joyful and educational experience for all participants.

NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY


 The Physical Science Department of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education successfully organized an event on National Energy Conservation Day, observed on 14th December, to emphasize the critical importance of energy conservation and sustainable living.

The event began with a talk by Aiswarya M, who eloquently highlighted the current energy challenges and stressed on adopting energy-efficient practices in daily life. Her speech was both enlightening and thought-provoking, inspiring students to adopt simple yet impactful conservation habits.

The program featured an interactive segment called EC Charades, where participants creatively expressed energy conservation concepts through a fun and educational game format. It engaged the audience while reinforcing key messages related to renewable energy and responsible consumption.

The celebration concluded with a heartfelt Sustainability Pledge, where students and faculty members committed themselves to conserving energy and promoting eco-friendly practices.

The theme “Saving energy TODAY will make TOMORROW bright” was clearly reflected in every part of the event, which was both informative and motivational.

The programme aimed to enhance critical thinking, promote scientific awareness, and encourage students to engage in analytical discussions on contemporary scientific issues.

The event began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the theme and rules of the debate. Students were reminded of the importance of scientific temper, evidence-based reasoning, and respectful discourse.

Participants debated on the topic:
“The Impact of Technology on Human Life: Boon or Bane?”
(You may replace this with the actual topic if needed.)

The topic encouraged students to explore both the advantages and challenges posed by modern scientific and technological advancements.

Students presented well-researched arguments supported by scientific facts, real-life examples, and logical reasoning.

  • The affirmative side highlighted the benefits of technology in healthcare, communication, education, and scientific progress.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the concept of support groups and their importance in promoting mental health. Students were briefed on how support groups function, the benefits of peer discussion, and the role of mutual understanding in coping with stress and personal challenges.

The club facilitators guided students through activities that encouraged self-expression, active listening, and empathy. Participants were organized into small support groups where they engaged in discussions on topics such as:

FLASH MOB AND SKIT PERFORMANCE


On December 7, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., an impactful Flash Mob and Skit performance took place near Mahe Walkway. This event was organized by the Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE) in association with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and Puducherry AIDS Control Society (PACS) as part of an AIDS awareness programme. The skit, directed by Ram Yadav, a first-year B.Ed student, aimed to raise awareness about AIDS.

The Flash Mob and Skit were executed flawlessly by the talented first-year B.Ed students of MCCTE (State Level Skit Competition first prize winners). The skit, which focused on AIDS awareness, showcased the creativity and dedication of the team.

The audience, comprised of students, faculty, and onlookers, unanimously praised the program, describing it as an “extraordinary” and impactful initiative. The combination of the energetic flash mob and the thought-provoking skit captivated everyone present, effectively delivering the message of AIDS awareness.

The Flash Mob and Skit performance marked a significant contribution to AIDS awareness at Mahe, Pondicherry. The dedication and talent of the participating students demonstrated the college’s commitment to addressing important social issues through creative means.

This event not only showcased the artistic abilities of the students but also served as a powerful medium to educate and inspire the community on the importance of AIDS awareness. ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY


The Social Science Association of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education commemorated Armed Forces Flag Day on 7th December 2023 with a heartfelt program dedicated to honoring the sacrifices and services of the Indian Armed Forces.

The event included a special talk by Swathi, who emphasized the historical significance of the day and highlighted the invaluable contributions of soldiers in safeguarding the nation. She also touched upon the importance of showing solidarity through contributions to the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund.

The poster for the event effectively conveyed the spirit of patriotism, featuring silhouettes of soldiers in action and bold red text to mark the solemnity and pride associated with the day.

 The Mathematics Association of MAHE Co-operative College of Teachers Education observed International Volunteers Day on 5th December to honor and appreciate the invaluable contributions of volunteers around the world.

The event featured an engaging talk by Anusha, who emphasized the spirit of volunteerism, community service, and the power of individual action in creating collective impact. She also highlighted real-life examples of how volunteering fosters unity, compassion, and social responsibility.

The poster for the event creatively captured the essence of the day with illustrations of people working together, sharing, and contributing to social causes. The large heart in the background symbolized the love and commitment that volunteers bring to their work.

The Physical Science Department of MAHE CO-OP College of Teacher Education celebrated Indian Navy Day on 4th December 2024 with great enthusiasm and patriotism. The theme of the event was “We Rule The Ocean Boldly & Confidently,” highlighting the strength and confidence of the Indian Navy.

as part of the celebration, a talk and PowerPoint presentation were organized by the students. They shared important information about the history, achievements, and present role of the Indian Navy in protecting our maritime borders. The presentation also included inspiring stories of naval operations like Operation Trident and the increasing participation of women officers in the Navy.

The program aimed to create awareness among students about the significance of our naval forces and to honor the bravery and service of Indian Navy personnel. The event was informative, engaging, and a fitting tribute to the guardians of our seas.

The programme was organised with the objective of enhancing students’ awareness about the democratic process and strengthening their understanding of responsible electoral participation.

The workshop began with a brief introduction by the coordinator of the Electoral Literacy Club, who highlighted the importance of electoral literacy in shaping active and informed citizens. The resource person for the session explained the key stages of the electoral process, including voter registration, filing of nominations, scrutiny, campaigning regulations, polling procedures, and counting of votes. The students were also briefed about the ethical responsibilities of voters and the significance of informed decision-making in strengthening democracy.

Interactive discussions and practical demonstrations made the workshop highly engaging. Students clarified their doubts regarding voter ID registration, postal ballots, NOTA, and the role of the Election Commission of India in ensuring free and fair elections. WORLD AIDS DAY





On the occasion of World AIDS Day, observed on 1st December 2024, the Biological Science Association of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education organized a meaningful awareness program under the theme:

“We Remember, We Honour, We Fight On.”

The program aimed to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, remember those who have lost their lives, and reaffirm the commitment to fight the stigma and discrimination associated with the disease.

The highlight of the event was a talk by Vrinda, who shared insights into the current global scenario of HIV/AIDS, preventive measures, and the importance of empathy, education, and inclusion. The session was informative, emotionally moving, and greatly appreciated by all attendees.

A creative and visually impactful poster was released to commemorate the day, featuring the iconic red ribbon of AIDS awareness and an illustration symbolizing compassion and solidarity.

The event concluded with an interactive session where students and faculty shared their thoughts and pledged to support ongoing efforts to eliminate HIV/AIDS through education, awareness, and community support.



FIT INDIA WEEK

 




Fit India Week 2023 was celebrated at Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education from November 27 to December 1, 2023, with the aim of promoting fitness, sportsmanship, and a healthy lifestyle among students.

On Day 1 (Nov 27), an online quiz competition on the Cricket World Cup was held. The winners were Akshaya Lakshman R.P. and Amal Raj. The second place went to Neehara M.S. and Ashil A.K., and the third place was secured by Aashraya Jayakumar and Gokul Das.

Day 2 (Nov 28) featured sports events including Shootout and Ball Out. In Ball Out, Ashil A.K. emerged as the winner and Thejus was the second runner-up. In the women’s category, Siham won first place and Aditya was the second runner-up. In the Shootout (men’s), Nandakishore won, followed by Ashil A.K.. In the women’s shootout, Hridaya was the winner.

On Day 3 (Nov 29), a Taekwondo demonstration was conducted by Gopika S. Kumar, a state-level player and referee. The session emphasized self-defense and physical awareness.

Days 4 and 5 (Nov 30 & Dec 1) featured indoor games. In boys’ doubles badminton, Abhijith and Arshkah were winners, with Ram and Amal in second place. In girls’ doubles, Anjima and Athulya won first, while Aashraya and Anusree came second.

In women’s chess, Meghna won first place and Anjuna came second. In men’s chess, Gokul was the winner, followed by Abhishek.

In Carrom doubles (men), Gokul and Sarang won, with Pranav and Nandakishore in second place. In Carrom doubles (women), Neehara and Shabnam were winners, with Shana and Anagha V.P. coming in second.

Fit India Week 2023 was a vibrant celebration that motivated students to adopt a healthy lifestyle while enjoying the spirit of competition and teamwork

The activity aimed to make science learning more engaging, interactive, and application-oriented.

The programme began with an introductory address, highlighting the importance of demonstrations in simplifying complex concepts and promoting experiential learning.

1. Demonstration of Scientific Experiments

Students and coordinators presented a variety of scientific demonstrations related to:

  • Basic principles of physics

  • Chemical reactions and their applications

  • Environmental science concepts

  • Properties of matter and energy

  • Simple machines and mechanisms

Each demonstration was designed to visually illustrate a concept, making it easier for students to understand how scientific principles operate in real-world situations.

Presenters explained the science behind each demonstration, focusing on:
