Organised by the Guidance and Counselling Club
Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 08 December 2023 | Time: 2:00 PM
The Guidance and Counselling Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, conducted a Support Group Formation programme on 8 December 2023 at 2:00 PM. The initiative aimed to create a safe and supportive platform for students to share their concerns, encourage peer support, and foster emotional well-being within the college community.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinator, who explained the purpose and importance of forming support groups among student teachers. The resource person provided an overview of how support groups function, emphasising confidentiality, empathy, active listening, and mutual encouragement as core principles.
During the session, students were organised into small groups to facilitate open communication and trust-building. Activities such as reflective sharing, group discussions, and collaborative problem-solving helped participants connect with one another and understand the value of mutual support. The session also highlighted the role of support groups in managing academic stress, personal challenges, and emotional difficulties.
The formation of these groups aimed to strengthen peer bonding and provide a continuous support system where students could express themselves freely and seek guidance when required. Participants responded positively, appreciating the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and build stronger interpersonal relationships.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and for contributing to the success of the initiative.
