SCIENCE DEMONSTRATION SESSION
Organized by the Science Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe
Date: 01 December 2023
Time: 1:30 PM
Venue: College Campus
The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a Science Demonstration Session on 1st December 2023 at 1:30 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of scientific principles through practical, hands-on demonstrations. The activity aimed to make science learning more engaging, interactive, and application-oriented.
The programme began with an introductory address, highlighting the importance of demonstrations in simplifying complex concepts and promoting experiential learning.
1. Demonstration of Scientific Experiments
Students and coordinators presented a variety of scientific demonstrations related to:
-
Basic principles of physics
-
Chemical reactions and their applications
-
Environmental science concepts
-
Properties of matter and energy
-
Simple machines and mechanisms
Each demonstration was designed to visually illustrate a concept, making it easier for students to understand how scientific principles operate in real-world situations.
2. Explanation and Clarification
Presenters explained the science behind each demonstration, focusing on:
-
Cause-and-effect relationships
-
Scientific reasoning
-
Safety precautions
-
Real-life applications
Students asked questions throughout the session, making the learning process interactive and participatory.
3. Hands-On Participation
Selected students were given the opportunity to assist in conducting simple experiments under supervision. This active involvement helped boost confidence and enhanced their practical skills.
4. Safety and Scientific Temper
The coordinators emphasized the importance of laboratory safety, proper handling of materials, and the need to develop scientific temper, encouraging students to approach science with curiosity and critical thinking.
5. Learning Outcomes
The session enabled students to:
-
Visualize scientific concepts clearly
-
Strengthen observational and analytical skills
-
Develop interest in practical science
-
Understand the importance of experimentation in learning
-
Build teamwork and communication abilities
6. Feedback and Conclusion
The event concluded with a feedback session in which students expressed enthusiasm and shared what they learned from the demonstrations. Faculty coordinators appreciated the students’ active participation and encouraged them to continue exploring scientific ideas.
The Science Demonstration Session was a highly engaging and educational initiative, reflecting the Science Club’s commitment to fostering practical learning, scientific curiosity, and conceptual clarity among students.
