Event Overview:

The Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, through its Physical Science Association, organized a commemorative event on the occasion of Central Excise Day, observed annually on 24th February. This day is celebrated to honor the significant role played by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) under the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.


Special Session:

A key highlight of the event was a talk delivered by Ms. Gopika S Kumar. The session aimed to shed light on the importance of central excise in the Indian taxation system and its impact on the country’s economy and governance.


Purpose:

The event aimed to increase awareness among students about the significance of Central Excise Day, instilling a sense of national responsibility and appreciation for the institutions that support the country's economic infrastructure.


Conclusion:

The session was informative and contributed to the enrichment of knowledge among the attendees. It also provided an opportunity for students to engage with topics related to governance, taxation, and civic duty.

Sports week


 Sports are a crucial part of a student's growth and development. They help in the development of mental health and physical fitness in the body. Through participation in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience, and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality.


At Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, sports are an important part of the curriculum. The competition was between the four houses named Blue Hawks, Red Devils, Green Warriors, and Yellow Blasters. Students gave their best to win the medals. They engaged in a friendly match by keeping in mind how to manage time, maintain leadership qualities, and boost confidence.



Closing Ceremony


The sports meet organized at MCCTE by the student union named Meraki was a huge success. Students participated actively, giving their best performances in every sporting event.


Prizes were distributed to the winners for various sports items. The principal of the institution praised all the winners and participants for their hard work.

World thinking day


 World Thinking Day is a celebration of ten million girls worldwide that has taken place on every 22 February since 1926. It remains a day for all Guides and Girl Scouts to think of each other and celebrate their sisters all around the world.


In 1926, delegates from guide and girl scout organisations across the world met in the USA for the 4th world conference. They decided to create a day for Guides and Girl Scouts to celebrate being part of an international movement. Delegates chose to hold the first celebration on the joint birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the scout and guide movement, and his wife Olave, who served as World Chief Guide. And so, 'thinking day' was born.


Mathematic association of mccte conducted program on 24th february 2024 to celebrate world thinking day. The program was held in online through google meet at 8:30pm.Gokul Das first year b.ed mathematics student was the anchor. He invited Ihsaana fathima first year b.ed mathematics student to talk about the importance of World Thinking day.She explained the reason for celebrating World Thinking day.

International Mother Language Day

Report on International Mother Language Day

"International Mother Language Day is a worldwide annual observance held on 21 February to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. The idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day was approved at the 1999 UNESCO General Conference and has been observed throughout the world since 2000.

Mahe co-operative teacher education college conducted this programme on 28th February 2024. The programme was led by the English department students. A talk was conducted by Sneha.N.

A competition for a surprise quiz was also held. Shabnam from English department was the one who gave the instructions. There was one-minute time limit on each question. The students in the biology department emerged victorious in the quiz competition."


WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE


 The International Labour Organization (ILO) unanimously adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10 June 2008. This is the third major statement of principles and policies adopted by the International Labour Conference since the ILO's Constitution of 1919. It builds on the Philadelphia Declaration of 1944 and the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of 1998. The 2008 Declaration expresses the contemporary vision of the ILO's mandate in the era of globalization. This landmark Declaration is a powerful reaffirmation of ILO values. It is the outcome of tripartite consultations that started in the wake of the Report of the World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization. By adopting this text, the representatives of governments, employers' and workers' organizations from 182 member States emphasize the key role of our tripartite Organization in helping to achieve progress and social justice in the context of globalization. Together, they commit to enhance the ILO's capacity to advance these goals, through the Decent Work Agenda. The Declaration institutionalizes the Decent Work concept developed by the ILO since 1999, placing it at the core of the Organization's policies to reach its constitutional objectiv


On 24th February, MCCTE celebrated the World Day of Social Justice under the leadership of the Social Science department through online mode. Nabha gave an introductory speech about international justice day.

The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe organized a vibrant Flashmob Performance on 17th February 2024 at 3:00 PM with the objective of creating awareness on science-related themes in an engaging and creative manner. The activity aimed to capture attention, promote scientific thinking, and convey meaningful messages through performance art.

The programme began with a brief introduction to the purpose of the flashmob—using entertainment as a tool to spread scientific awareness and inspire curiosity among students.

1. Flashmob Theme and Concept

The performance was centered around science-based themes such as:

  • Importance of scientific temper

  • Environmental conservation

  • Role of science in everyday life

  • Promoting eco-friendly habits

  • Responsible use of technology

The choreography included expressive movements, coordinated steps, and symbolic gestures that conveyed the core messages effectively.

2. Student Participation

A group of energetic students performed the flashmob at a central area of the campus, drawing immediate attention from peers, faculty, and visitors. The spontaneity and rhythm of the performance created a lively atmosphere and successfully engaged the audience.

3. Audience Engagement

Spectators gathered around the performers, showing enthusiasm and appreciation. After the performance, the audience was encouraged to reflect on the scientific messages portrayed through the act.

4. Awareness Message

Following the flashmob, coordinators briefly addressed the crowd, reinforcing key ideas related to:

  • Sustainability and conservation

  • Scientific curiosity

  • Importance of rational thinking

  • Positive impact of science on society

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education- is proud to announce the inauguration of the Energy Club. Launched on February 14, 2024, the club aims to raise awareness about energy conservation and promote sustainable practices within the college and the wider community. This initiative, driven by the vision of college Principal Dr. Sreelatha K, underscores the institution's commitment to environmental responsibility and fostering a generation that values energy efficiency. The Energy Club will be guided by its dedicated coordinators: Arun U as IQAC Coordinator and Nived C M. as Teacher Coordinator. Through various activities and campaigns, the club seeks to cultivate a culture of energy saving and environmental stewardship among students and faculty, contributing to a greener future.

 World Energy Day – Awareness Talk

The Energy Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an Awareness Talk in connection with World Energy Day on 14 February 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the college campus.

The programme aimed to promote awareness about the global energy crisis, the need for sustainable energy practices, and the importance of responsible energy consumption. The session emphasized the role of individuals in conserving energy and adopting eco-friendly habits to protect the environment.

The talk covered key themes such as renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, environmental impacts of excessive energy use, and practical measures that students can adopt in their daily lives. The resource person highlighted the significance of transitioning to clean energy solutions to ensure a sustainable future.

Students participated actively by asking questions and sharing their views on energy conservation and environmental responsibility. The session helped them develop a deeper understanding of global energy challenges and the importance of adopting sustainable lifestyle choices.

The programme concluded successfully, with positive feedback from participants. The Energy Club reaffirmed its commitment to raising awareness on environmental sustainability and organizing similar educational initiatives in the future.

This event, organized by the Chemistry Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, was a resounding success.  The Biological Science Department at Mahe Cooperative College of Teacher Education organized a Darwin's Day Celebration on February 12, 2024. The event featured a quiz competition conducted by Akshaya Lakshmanan, aiming to educate participants about evolution and Charles Darwin's contributions. The Psychology Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Intelligence Test activity on 10th February 2024 at 10:15 AM with the objective of helping students understand individual differences in cognitive abilities and providing practical exposure to psychological testing. The programme aimed to introduce students to the concept of intelligence, its measurement, and the use of standardized tools in psychological assessment.

The session began with a brief introduction to intelligence, covering definitions, types of intelligence, and the relevance of IQ testing in educational and psychological settings. Students were given an overview of how intelligence tests are administered, scored, and interpreted. The importance of ethical considerations and confidentiality in psychological testing was also highlighted.

Participants then engaged in the administration of a simplified intelligence test designed to assess areas such as logical reasoning, verbal ability, numerical aptitude, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills. Students took part with enthusiasm, focusing intently on the challenging yet interesting questions. The activity provided them with firsthand experience of cognitive assessment procedures and the factors that influence test performance.

After the test, students discussed their experiences and reflected on the variability in cognitive strengths among individuals. Faculty coordinators explained how results are interpreted and clarified common misconceptions about intelligence testing. The discussion helped students understand that intelligence is multi-dimensional and influenced by both innate and environmental factors.

The activity enhanced students’ awareness of psychological assessment techniques and deepened their understanding of cognitive processes. It also improved their analytical thinking and appreciation for scientific methods used in psychology.

The programme concluded with appreciation for the active participation of students and encouragement from the coordinators to continue exploring various aspects of psychological testing. The Intelligence Test activity was an informative and engaging initiative, reflecting the Psychology Club’s commitment to promoting psychological literacy, cognitive awareness, and practical learning among students.

LANGUAGE WORKSHOP

The Language Club of MCCTE Mahe organized a Language Workshop on 07 February 2024 at 10:00 AM in the college campus. The workshop aimed to strengthen students’ linguistic skills, enhance their understanding of language structures, and promote effective communication practices.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by the club coordinators, who highlighted the purpose and importance of the workshop. Students were introduced to various components of language learning, including phonetics, vocabulary development, grammar enhancement, sentence construction, and interactive communication techniques.

The workshop included hands-on activities, group tasks, and short demonstrations that encouraged active participation. Students engaged in pronunciation drills, vocabulary games, and practice exercises that improved their confidence and fluency. The resource person also discussed practical strategies for better language usage in academic and professional settings.

The interactive nature of the workshop created an encouraging and collaborative environment, allowing students to clarify doubts and enhance their linguistic competence.

The session concluded with positive feedback from the coordinators and appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of the students. Overall, the Language Workshop was a highly informative and enriching experience, successfully achieving its goal of promoting effective language learning.



World cancer day

 


Report on world cancer day

World Cancer Day is an International day marked on 4 February to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment. World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) to support the goals of the World Cancer Declaration, written in 2008. The primary goal of World Cancer Day is to significantly reduce illness and death caused by cancer[1] and is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer. The day is observed by United Nations.


Mathematics association of Mahe cooperative college of teacher education conducted programs on 5th February 2024 to celebrate World Cancer Day. The program was held in online Google meet at 8:00pm. Anusha first year B.ed mathematics student was the Anchor. She invited Dhrishya , first year B.ed mathematics student to talk about the day and its importance. He talked about the significance of the World Cancer day. She raised awareness on cancer as a public health issue among students by her talk.

The programme aimed to promote mental well-being, create awareness about emotional health, and provide students with practical strategies to cope with stress and academic pressures.

The session began with a formal welcome and a brief introduction to the significance of World Mental Health Day. The resource person highlighted the growing need to prioritize mental wellness, especially among students who often manage academic responsibilities, personal expectations, and social challenges.

The counselling expert engaged the participants through an interactive session that focused on:

  • Understanding mental health and common stressors

  • Techniques for managing anxiety and emotional imbalance

  • The importance of self-care and healthy coping strategies

  • Building resilience and seeking help when needed

Students actively participated, sharing their thoughts and asking questions. The session provided them with meaningful insights into maintaining a balanced and positive mindset.

The programme concluded with a message encouraging students to be mindful of their mental well-being and to seek support whenever necessary. Participants expressed their appreciation for the informative and supportive session.

World Wetlands Day

 World Wetlands Day, celebrated annually on 2 February, aims to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and planet. This day also marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar.


Mahe co-operative college of teacher education, Mahe celebrated this day on February 3rd 2024. The programme was led by English department students. A talk was conducted by Nandhana.K.Ranjith. After the talk a video was shown on this topic which was presented by Krishnendhu krishnadas.

PERIODIC DAY-PERIODIC TABLE BATTLESHIP

 

Periodic Table Battleship Competition

The Chemistry Club of MCCTE, Mahe organized an innovative and engaging activity titled “Periodic Table Battleship” on the occasion of Periodic Table Day. The programme was held on 17 February 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the college campus.

The event aimed to promote a deeper understanding of the periodic table through an interactive, game-based learning strategy. Students enthusiastically participated and showcased their knowledge of elements, groups, periods, and chemical properties while engaging in a friendly competitive environment.

The activity successfully combined learning with fun, helping students revise the periodic table in a collaborative and enjoyable manner. The programme also encouraged critical thinking, teamwork, and quick recall of chemical concepts.

The event concluded with positive feedback from the participants, highlighting the effectiveness of activity-based learning in the teaching of Chemistry. The Chemistry Club expressed its intention to organize more such creative academic events in the future

The Electoral Literacy Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted an Electoral Literacy Game Activity on 2nd February 2024 at 2:00 PM with the objective of enhancing students’ knowledge of electoral processes, voting rights, and democratic responsibilities through an interactive and engaging format.

The programme began with a welcome address followed by a brief introduction on the importance of electoral literacy in empowering young citizens. Students were encouraged to participate actively to strengthen their understanding of democracy and the functioning of the electoral system.

Various interactive games and activities were organized, focusing on themes such as:

  • Voting procedures and ballot systems

  • Roles and responsibilities of voters

  • Electoral symbols and political awareness

  • Mock polling and decision-making

  • Understanding the importance of ethical voting

The games were designed to be both educational and enjoyable, allowing students to learn through hands-on participation. The activities fostered teamwork, critical thinking, and awareness about the significance of informed voting.

The Drama Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Face Painting Competition on 1st February 2024 at 2:00 PM as part of its initiative to encourage creativity, artistic skills, and self-expression among students.

The programme began with a welcome address and a brief introduction to the event guidelines. Students were encouraged to use colours, imagination, and facial expression as a canvas to portray meaningful artistic themes.

Participants showcased diverse designs based on themes such as:

  • Nature and wildlife

  • Cultural patterns

  • Social awareness messages

  • Abstract and creative art

Each participant demonstrated impressive creativity, colour coordination, precision, and originality. The event created a vibrant and energetic atmosphere as students transformed faces into expressive works of art.

The judges evaluated the entries based on creativity, relevance to theme, neatness, artistic technique, and overall visual impact. The competition concluded with the announcement of winners and appreciation for all participants.

The Face Painting Competition proved to be an enjoyable and inspiring event, successfully promoting imagination, teamwork, and artistic confidence among students. The Drama Club reaffirmed its commitment to encouraging creative arts and providing platforms for talent development within the campus.
