WATER POTS FOR BIRDS

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, under the initiative of the IQAC in association with Ektha College Union, organized a meaningful environmental activity titled “Water Pots for Birds” on 24 February 2026 at 4:15 PM on the college campus.

The programme was conducted with the noble message:

“In this heat, be their shade and their sip.”

The initiative aimed at creating awareness among students about compassion towards living beings and the importance of protecting birds during the summer season. With rising temperatures, birds often struggle to find safe drinking water. As a responsible educational institution, MCCTE took a proactive step by placing water pots at various locations within the campus to help quench the thirst of birds.

The programme was organized under the guidance of:

Teaching Practice Observation 

As part of the B.Ed. internship programme, a teaching practice observation was conducted at GVHSS Kadirur, Thalassery, Kerala, on 13 February 2026 at 10:44 AM. The observation was carried out to understand the school environment, teaching methods, and student participation in classroom activities.

The school campus is well-maintained and provides a pleasant atmosphere for learning. The surroundings include greenery and educational displays, which contribute to a positive and motivating environment. The infrastructure of the school is satisfactory, with properly arranged classrooms and necessary facilities for both teachers and students.

During the observation, the teaching-learning process was found to be interactive and effective. The teacher explained the lesson in a clear and simple manner, making it easy for students to understand. Students were attentive, disciplined, and actively participated in the class. The teacher maintained good classroom control and encouraged student involvement through questioning and discussion.

The observation also highlighted the importance of communication skills, proper lesson planning, and the use of appropriate teaching aids. The student-teachers present during the observation showed professionalism and enthusiasm in observing and learning teaching practices.

 Inauguration of Commerce Association – 2022

The Commerce Association of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education (MCCTE), Mahe was inaugurated with great enthusiasm in the presence of faculty members and students. The programme was organized with the aim of encouraging academic interaction and promoting activities related to commerce education among the students.

The programme began with a formal inaugural session, followed by the welcome address. The ceremony included the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the beginning of the association’s activities. Faculty members and students actively participated in the event, creating a vibrant and engaging atmosphere.

As part of the programme, a guest was invited to inaugurate the association and address the gathering. During the session, the speaker highlighted the importance of commerce education and its relevance in the modern economic world. The speaker also encouraged students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities organized by the association.

The event also included a token of appreciation, where the chief guest was honoured with a memento as a mark of gratitude for their valuable presence and contribution to the programme.

The inauguration of the Commerce Association 2022 marked the beginning of various academic activities such as seminars, discussions, and competitions that aim to enhance the knowledge and skills of students in the field of commerce.

 Book Review Programme – Common Hour

Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe

The IQAC, in collaboration with the English Association, organised a Book Review Programme during the Common Hour on 10th February 2026 at the General Hall (First Floor) of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Sreelatha K, Principal (MCCTE), who served as the General Co-ordinator. The IQAC Co-ordinator, Mr. Arun U, Assistant Professor (MCCTE), and the Teacher Co-ordinator, Ms. Aneesha T P, Assistant Professor (MCCTE), coordinated the event.

The book selected for review was A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini. The reviewer presented a thoughtful and engaging analysis of the novel, highlighting its central themes of resilience, sacrifice, friendship, oppression, and the strength of women set against the socio-political backdrop of Afghanistan.

The presentation focused on:

  • The lives of the protagonists and their emotional struggles

  • The impact of war and patriarchy on women

  • Themes of hope, endurance, and solidarity

  • The author’s narrative style and powerful storytelling

Students actively listened and participated in the discussion session that followed. The programme enhanced critical thinking, interpretative skills, and literary appreciation among students. It also encouraged reflective dialogue on gender issues and social justice.

The session was interactive and engaging, providing a meaningful academic experience during the Common Hour. The programme concluded successfully with appreciation for the presenter and encouragement for more such literary activities in the future.
