TONGUE TWISTER ACTIVITY

 TONGUE TWISTER ACTIVITY

Organized by the English Club, MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education
Date: 16 July 2024
Time: 12:00 PM

The English Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Tongue Twister activity on 16th July 2024 at 12:00 PM with the objective of improving students’ pronunciation, articulation, fluency, and confidence in spoken English. The programme aimed to make language learning fun, interactive, and effective through playful verbal challenges.

The programme began with a short introduction on the importance of clear pronunciation and correct articulation in effective communication. Students were introduced to a series of tongue twisters ranging from simple to complex. Participants were encouraged to repeat the tongue twisters accurately and gradually increase their speed without losing clarity.

Students participated with great enthusiasm, taking turns to recite tongue twisters individually and in groups. The activity created a lively and joyful atmosphere as students tried to master tricky sound combinations. Faculty coordinators guided the students by correcting pronunciation, encouraging proper mouth movement, and motivating them to focus on clarity rather than speed alone.

The activity helped students become more aware of sounds, stress patterns, and voice control. It also helped reduce hesitation and stage fear while boosting self-confidence in speaking. Students expressed that the activity was both challenging and enjoyable, and it helped them improve their spoken English in a fun way.

The programme concluded with appreciation from the coordinators, who encouraged students to practise tongue twisters regularly to strengthen their pronunciation skills. The Tongue Twister activity was a lively and productive initiative, reflecting the English Club’s commitment to promoting effective communication, confidence, and language proficiency among students.
