The session began with a brief introduction explaining the importance of self-defence, especially for students, and its role in ensuring physical and emotional security. A trained instructor led the workshop and demonstrated simple, practical techniques that participants could use to protect themselves during threatening or unsafe situations. Emphasis was placed on alertness, quick decision-making, body balance, and effective use of strength.

Students actively participated in hands-on practice sessions where they learned techniques such as basic blocks, escape moves, stance positions, and strategies for handling common attack situations. The instructor also discussed psychological aspects of self-defence, including maintaining calmness under pressure, setting boundaries confidently, and recognizing early signs of danger.

The workshop encouraged teamwork, self-discipline, and mental preparedness. Students expressed that the training significantly boosted their confidence and helped them understand the importance of staying aware of their surroundings. Faculty members appreciated the initiative as an essential step toward promoting student safety and empowerment.

The programme concluded with a message on the importance of continuous practice and the responsibility of protecting oneself and supporting others in the community. The Self-Defence Workshop was a highly beneficial and engaging initiative, reflecting the Grievance Club’s commitment to student welfare, safety awareness, and holistic empowerment.
