The Biological Science Association “EVREN” of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, observed World Oceans Day on 8 June 2021 with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of oceans and the need for their conservation.

As part of the programme, a talk was delivered by Dilna, a student of Biological Science. The session focused on the significance of oceans in maintaining ecological balance and supporting life on Earth. The speaker explained the role of oceans in regulating climate, supporting marine biodiversity, and providing resources that are essential for human survival.

The talk also highlighted the major threats faced by oceans such as pollution, plastic waste, overfishing, and climate change. Participants were encouraged to adopt responsible habits such as reducing plastic use, protecting marine ecosystems, and promoting environmental awareness.

The programme helped students understand the importance of protecting marine life and conserving ocean resources for future generations. It also inspired them to take an active role in environmental conservation and sustainability.

The programme concluded with a message emphasizing the collective responsibility of individuals and communities to protect and preserve the world’s oceans. 🌊
