PEER COUNSELLING TRAINING

The Guidance and Counselling Club of Mahe Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe, conducted a Peer Counselling Training session on 5 October 2023 at 2:00 PM. The programme was organised with the objective of equipping students with essential counselling skills that would enable them to support their peers effectively within the academic and personal environment.

The session began with a warm welcome by the club coordinator, who highlighted the importance of peer counselling in promoting emotional well-being and fostering a supportive campus atmosphere. The resource person for the training introduced the concept of peer counselling and discussed its relevance in addressing common student concerns such as stress, anxiety, academic pressure, and interpersonal conflicts.

During the training, students were familiarised with key counselling skills including active listening, empathy, confidentiality, problem-solving, and providing non-judgmental support. Interactive activities, role-plays, and group discussions helped participants practise these skills in a practical manner. The session also emphasised the boundaries of peer counselling and the importance of referring cases to professional counsellors when necessary.

The participants actively engaged in the training, expressing their willingness to apply the learned strategies in real-life situations. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the resource person, faculty members, and students for their active participation and contribution to the success of the training.

SCIENCE QUIZ COMPETITION

The Science Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Science Quiz Competition on 8th October 2023 at 10:30 AM. The event aimed to promote scientific awareness, encourage healthy competition, and enhance students’ curiosity and knowledge in various fields of science.

The programme began with a welcome address, followed by an introduction to the objectives of the quiz. Students were reminded of the importance of scientific thinking, inquiry-based learning, and staying updated with scientific developments.

1. Structure of the Quiz

The quiz consisted of multiple rounds designed to test a wide range of scientific knowledge, including:

  • Physics, Chemistry, and Biology

  • Environmental Science

  • Scientific Discoveries and Inventions

  • Famous Scientists and Their Contributions

  • Science in Daily Life

  • Rapid-Fire Round

The variety of rounds ensured active engagement and challenged participants to think critically and quickly.

2. Participation and Engagement

Several teams from the college participated enthusiastically. Each team showcased excellent teamwork, subject knowledge, and problem-solving skills. The audience also took part by answering bonus questions and supporting the participants.

Quizmasters ensured smooth conduct of the event with clear instructions and transparent scoring. Scores were displayed after each round to maintain excitement and competitive spirit.

The Green Protocol Club of MAHE Co-operative College of Teacher Education, Mahe conducted a Campus Beautification Programme on 2nd October 2023 at 10:00 AM as part of its efforts to promote cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and aesthetic enhancement of the institution's surroundings. The programme was organized in connection with Gandhi Jayanti, reinforcing the values of cleanliness, discipline, and community service.

The event began with a short inauguration, during which the significance of maintaining a clean and green campus was highlighted. Students were encouraged to participate actively and take ownership of preserving the beauty of their educational environment.

1. Cleaning Activities

Students and faculty volunteers worked together on various beautification tasks, including:

  • Sweeping pathways and open areas

  • Removing litter from the campus grounds

  • Collecting and segregating waste into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories

  • Cleaning garden beds and public spaces

These activities helped restore cleanliness and enhanced the visual appeal of the campus.
